Okay this is a total goofball ass question but it should make for some light hearted discussion.

What video game world would ya'll pick to live in, assuming you gain NO ADDITIONAL abilities. That's right Jeff, your name might not be Jeff but you get what I mean, what world would you live in if you were just you. Your favorite world might have legendary warriors, but you aint Link chum, you're fucking Jeff.

So Jeff what video game world do you think you could be happy surviving in.

For me I have to look at Final Fantasy worlds because I love Final Fantasy, but the problem is that most of the Final Fantasy worlds get fucking destroied constantly so that's probably not the best idea.....except. Ivalice from Tactics and FF12. Those games all had plots of politics and no world ending clowns or comets from the sky. Plus there is magic, so yeah i think I could be very happy in Ivalice.

The Mushroom Kingdom also seems mostly cool enough, strange creatures sure and this dragon keeps trying to kidnap our nobility, but the Plumbers are out-fucking-standing.

I find it hard to think of really enjoyable places to live, usually because the games always take place during times of disaster and excitement, I'm sure many places would be cool to visit, but live in.....I dunno.

What can you guys come up with?

I'd easily pick the Mushroom Kingdom. Just a happy world where everything's relaxed and the only thing to worry about is the big rampaging turtle that every probably considers to a fun part of their weekly schedule at some point.

Pokemon easy, I already have all the knowledge needed and in that world you have the pokemon do all the work for you while you sit back and shout commands.

Mass Effect; yes I know my ass would probably die in the Reaper invasion but knowing I had Shepard watching my back metaphorically would mean the world to me.

Hmm. Probably Blighttown.

J/K, but it was rather intriguing and borderline pleasant for a Souls game location. Anyways, while there are quite a few hostile worlds I’d love to visit just for the first-hand experience (Dracula’s castle, Helghan, pretty much any SoulsBorne or MK location), to actually settle somewhere, I’d probably want to be in some sleepy JRPG town that’s isolated from disastrous plot devices. Somewhere both imaginative and cozy all at once. And the awesome musical scores of these games like FF, Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger, etc. would optionally play in the background if so chosen, to enhance a given activity.

Videogame world wise, there's not many as generally safe yet interesting as Pokemon... although the total worldwide obsession with pokemon may become tiring after a while. Cloudbank from Transistor before everyone got eaten by the Process looks like a nice, comfortable place.

Fictional worlds in general though, I'd never choose to go anywhere other than Iain M Banks's Culture, because it's a fully automated luxury anarcho-communist utopia with super benevolent AI administrators, and getting involved in anything difficult or dangerous there is voluntary... usually.

Ditto on Pokemon, peaceful world full of interesting and intelligent critter that outright welcome becoming your pet slave.

Last time I saw one of those "you get stuck in the last game you played" I was playing stardew valley so that would have been pretty cool too.

But most world are just way too freaking dangerous for my taste, living in a world where any edging teen can potentially gain enough power to wipe out the world seems like a recipe for a short life.

If I would gain the video game character abilities, I'd pick civilzation, becoming an all powerful immortal leader sounds pretty neat.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Trials in Tainted Space. If you've played it then you know its the objective right choice.

Technically I already am from a fictional universe, which would be this one considering it doesn't really exist, or was it me that didn't exist? I don't remember, but if I could choose, I mean it's pretty obvious, Star Trek, you know for all it's faults I would have something that's very close to freedom, autonomy to do what I want and be what I want and if I want to I can travel the galaxy for shits and giggles, sure it's not space Anarchy but at least it's not a hell-hole.

I might have said The Expanse just because I really like the setting but I would obviously be a belter there, which mean it would basically be my current life but in space which isn't anything remotely close to good.

Probably one of them Final Fantasy ones, because eveyone would be hot and I'd probably be five times hotter too solely by looking more anime-ish. Wish I could be less shallow in my answer, but there is.

More specifically FF10, since that whole place feels like one big vacation resort.

Animal Crossing, obviously. Free house, normal weather, nothing trying to destroy the world, video games you can pay for by raking the yard, etc, etc, etc.
Trials in Tainted Space. If you've played it then you know its the objective right choice.
Do we get to pick the toggles first?

Hmmmm, well most game worlds seem like bloody awful places to live. Maybe the first Life is Strange, but the angst teens would get annoying and knowing me I'd turn out to be the bad guy.

Stardew Valley. Even if I sucked at farming, I would be ok as there are plenty of stuff laying around to eat that I wouldn't go hungry. Plus people randomly send you pizzas in the post. And farming is so easy that I should be ok.

Or Skies of Arcadia, again not a great world to live in but flying ships people.

There is the whole SIN problem though. And the fact the dominant religion is very creepy, corrupt and kinda Death-cultish. On the plus side, I guess if you like underwater football then yay?

I'd go with Saint's Row 2. Joining up with the Saints would get me access to their pretty kick-ass nightclub/stronghold, lots of heavy weaponry and some really cool cars. And there's always a Forgive and Forget nearby.
