Sony Online Strongly "Hints" Planetside Sequel Coming This Spring

Mmmmm, lookin' forward to seeing what they've cooked up. Granted, it's SOE we're talking about, so I'm keeping my opinions in check until I see the final product (aka cautious optimism). Yes, PlanetSide was way ahead of it's time. It's the only game to date, IMHO, that managed to successfully...

    Diablo III

Really? Nobody's pointed this out yet? Okay, fine, I'll bite. You're basing the thesis of your argument on a comparison between a pre-rendered cinematic from a final game and a gameplay class reveal machinima from an unfinished game (which they probably threw together in a couple of days...

    Adaptations of The Divine Comedy

Check this out: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/086554543X/ref=oss_product Nice, paragraphized format, accurate translation with a bit of clarification sprinkled into the text for cultural and historical background. It even has footnotes. Take a look at the inside to see what I'm talking...

    Adaptations of The Divine Comedy

reg42: Noted and corrected. :) Mother Yeti: "read" in quotes was alluding to the fact that I don't really want to endure reading it in verse. The only thing worse than reading classical poetry translated directly from italian to english would be reading Dune again.

    Adaptations of The Divine Comedy

I don't have a problem understanding it in prose, I just can't enjoy reading it. I was searching around and I found a version by an author named Kathryn Lindskoog, but nobody seems to have Purgatory in stock. :( Anyway, this author seems to have the right idea: Put it into clear english...

    Adaptations of The Divine Comedy

Seeing as how Dante's Inferno is a hot topic nowadays, I was wondering: I've always wanted to "read" The Divine Comedy, but I hate reading verse. Does anyone know of any books that do a straight adaptation of the work in a novelization-like form?

    On RPG Elements

I noticed that no one mentioned recent racing games with RPG mechanics. Games like Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport have been doing this for years too. Think about it: You gain "XP" (money) and use it to level up your "stats" (buy car parts or new cars) and thus confront greater challenges...

Dear Yahtzee, See? This is what you get for reading the comments. Love DG

Sequels everyone wants but stupid companies won't make

Good choices!! I would also add Chrono Trigger 2 (sorry, kids. Chrono Cross sucked), Conker 2 and (betcha don't remember this one!) Uplink 2.

    Neverwinter Nights 2 Camera Trouble...

I like the new system better. I tweaked around with it quite a bit to get it the way I want it. The way I have it set up, the strategy mode (love it!) operates just like the old Infinity Engine games. Exploration mode works just like the original NWN and Character mode works exactly like WoW...

What is the BEST BOSS MOVE you've ever encountered!?

In Einhander for PS1, the mini-boss of Stage 2 (the train chase) was absolutely enthralling. In particular, he had a move where he'd fire seeker missiles behind you and at the same time spray you with weapons fire from the front. Avoidable, but fun as hell to do so every single time.

    Neverwinter Nights 2 Camera Trouble...

Oh yeah: This is probably the wrong forum for this topic. I direct your attention to: http://nwn2forums.bioware.com/forums/index.html Though, now that I think of it, that forum requires a CD key... You didn't happen to pirate this game did you? :P

    Neverwinter Nights 2 Camera Trouble...

It sounds like you have strategy mode turned on. Strategy mode pans using the mouse (like an RTS). There should be a 3 button panel somewhere on the screen that can switch between Strategy mode (image of a mouse cursor making a marquee selection), Exploration mode (image of a cone and dots)...

Sequels everyone wants but stupid companies won't make

Also known as "Metroid Syndrome", this disease plagues a number of illustrious franchises. For example, SimCity 4 was a fantastic example of what could be done with the franchise. But, after making SC4, EA tried to satiate us with half-assed knockoffs and console versions of the beloved...
