1st one: We went to the same high school, and though we shared a couple of classes we didn't really talk much. But we both rode the same bus sometimes. One day I was walking to the bus stop, it was raining, and she was ahead of me with no umbrella. So I gave her mine. And then we started...
Add another one to the "it's stupid" part of the thread. As a teacher myself, it does nothing. Absolutely nothing. It makes it harder to teach in the long term, because now all the kids justifiably think you're an ass. The disgruntlement factor doesn't work at all; if the perpetrators had...
It's amazing, the first book is easily the worst in the series, it only gets better from there. Have fun!
Books: This one is difficult, since I like to read a lot of long series. Probably the Malazan Book of the Fallen though. The Dresden Files is probably in second place? Though if you...
You can play Mount&Blade without worrying too much about tactics, depending on your play style and difficulty level. Especially if you're just looking for a power trip with a lot of head chopping.
EDIT: Also, there is always multiplayer.
I still like it. Sometimes comics are wordy. Sometimes they work like that. If you want brevity in your comics go read something else, and allow those of us that like wordy comics too to enjoy this.
The way I've always seen it if you're in a living situation like that because of whatever system you're in, then the crime has already been committed against you. Societies laws exist for a reason, and if they exist to commit violence against you or your loved ones than fuck 'em and take what...
*eye roll* The "Man sleeps with man by accident and then kills himself in shame" is NOT dark humor. Never has been. It's not about the person killing themselves, it's about the fact that he thought he was sleeping with a woman and it turned out he was wrong and then he's horrified.
Whether it's specifically stated or not, it ties into the culture that trans women are out to "Trick our menz!" into having sex with them. No, it's not specifically stated. But a lot of people are clearly taking it that way, so to try and invalidate their feelings and conceptions of the poem...
This isn't there to set up a dark atmosphere. This is there as a joke. It's there to make people laugh, and it ties into a culture and a set of conceptions that leads to a depressingly high number of violent murders and suicides every year.
Definitely The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. This is both the best book I've ever read and my favorite book, and I've read a LOT. In a lot of different genres.
A close follow up for best book would be Beloved by Toni Morrison, or (if I can cheat slightly) The Parables duo by Octavia...
Give another vote to Harry Dresden.
Also Quick Ben from The Malazan Book of the Fallen. He has the souls of 12 other wizards trapped inside him and can single handily take out three dragons at once, but he always prefers to use mundane methods, tricks, and subtlety to solve his problems and...
