Poll: How much Harry Potter have you experienced?

ALL THE BOOKS AND ALL THE MOVIES! and that includes the fantastic beasts and quidditch books, and beedle the bard of course. Been in line at night many a time, wrote theories and generally obsessed. Most of my friends now I have thanks to Harry Potter. Indirectly I've met all my closest...

Poll: Most useless key on your keyboard

I don't have a pause break key, so that one can't be it even though I don't know what it does. I've also never used the home, page up, page down and end buttons on my keyboard, and am not exactly sure what home and end do, so I'll have to vote for those.

Do you have any weird hygiene quirks?

I'm quite dirty compared to a lot of people here- I wash my hands when I've been to the toilet, but I don't always use soap (but I do always use soap if it was a number two..) but I don't clean my hands just before eating. I will also brush my mud-covered hands somewhat clean down my trousers...

Poll: Parking: Closest spot or First you see?

I've seen this before, and is it really that common in the US (or other places) to have people employed to push the carts back? I know in the Netherlands it isn't. Sometimes some asshole would leave their cart in the parking lot and I would have to bring it back, but that rarely happened -...

The Great Debate - Chunky vs. Smooth

Chunky peanut butter all the way! This is the best peanut butter there is. Nothing like the overly sweetened, oily stuff you find in America... Calve peanut butter is best peanut butter.

Poll: What would you do if you found a brand new insect?

Blue beetles are a lot more common than blue bees, I think. But the difference is easily spotted - bees have a sort of waist and thin, gauzy wings, while beetles have a hard shield and are more round to oblong, but usually oval, but not with a waist.

When are spoilers no longer spoilers?

I think about a year is a good one, but like what Redd the Sock says - a reset when the thing comes out in new media. I won't spoil Game of Thrones, even though people have had plenty of time to read the books, some people just watch the show. I don't mind being spoiled about soylent green...

Feminists, we need to talk about fedoras

I think it's because some people of the 'euphoric' "movement" claimed the fedora as a symbol. You don't see woman talking about being bitchy to men and exploiting them with their sexappeal and then using a miniskirt-symbol, I do get the idea that this happens with fedoras (i.e. this book...

In the event of nuclear war, what would you do?

I'm most likely to be at the university, and apparantly they have underground bomb shelters from the cold war. Chances of a bomb landing here are extremely low, being a not-that-big city in the Netherlands, but still, I could go there. Would have to find one of the older professors first, who...

Poll: High Level Math in the Escapist

I'm a biologist who hates math, so I don't know what to pick. I hate math but I do use it, although I have problems. I use statistics and integration and stuff like that, it's all still pretty basic. Also I don't usually care about people not using the PC "he or she" all the time but in this...

Poll: who are you arguing with? Escapistatstics, part 1

Student in a city in the Netherlands. I put in urban, even though my city is probably a small city by American standards. (164.000 people, area of a little under 60 square kilometers)

Question: Those outside of the UK, what is your internet/digital service like?

the Netherlands here, apparantly we have one of the fastest internet connections in the world. I pay about 15-20 euros a month I think (it's included in my rent as it's student housing, so I can't choose another service). advertised speed is 100 mb/s. When I use an ethernet cable, speedtest...

    So I bought a PS4 on Ebay for $20

I don't think it can even be really considered a scam, at that price. You knew something was wrong. THey probably have some fine print listing that it does not function, or something.

Rejecting applicants based on choice of attire

It depends. Lots of women's clothing shows a bit of cleavage, that's just how the fashion is, and it determines what you can buy in clothing stores. Was it "low cut" like this? because that's one of the first google images results for 'professional woman'. You said she didn't look...
