Poll: What would you do if you found a brand new insect?

I found this "blue bee" looking thing. It had mandibles and pollinators (with pollen on it!) It looked more like a beetle than a bee because of the mandibles. It didn't have a stinger.

Catalog it. And with me being the first to do so I shall name it... "The Aerosteam". (Bonus if it flies.)

Then it eat and see if I gain any powers.

I would catalog it! But if I found it in my home country or indeed anywhere in Europe, there's a small chance it would actually be new.

Probably name it after a bug Pokemon, depending on how similar it is to a specific species.

Or I would use my last name for narcissistic reasons of course.

I guess I'd have to take it to someone who knows something about insects. I wouldn't know just by looking at it that it was an undiscovered species.

If I could name it, I would name it Aquaman.

The only time I pay attention to bugs is when they're on or threatening to be on me. In both cases, their lifespan from the point where I notice them can be measured in seconds. If it looks sufficiently exotic, I might bring the smashed corpse to someone who would know more, but odds are I wouldn't look at it that closely, because who looks at bugs that closely?

I think i might know what you are talking about. Are you sure about it not having a stinger? It sounds like a type of wasp.

Catalogue it is the smartest option I'm capable of doing. I don't particularly see why you'd just let it go, and by the time we find something, there's usually tons of them, so killing it would be difficult.

I don't know nearly enough about insects to know if I've found a new species, so seeing as I have an intense dislike of insects (bees, ladybirds and the like get a pass for being useful) it probably wouldn't be alive long enough for anyone to catalogue it.

Insects and I don't really get along. In a perfect world, I'd capture it then hand it over to an expert to catalogue/examine it. However, this is not a perfect world, and the little buggy bastard would likely not see sunrise again.

But really, if I knew for a fact it was an undiscovered species I would quarantine it and catalog it. Unless, of course, it legitimately tried to attack me and then... then war were declared.

How would I even know it was a new species in the first place? It's all just insects man, I'd do what I always do: Ignore them.
