What I believe they should have done in both ME2&3 is have regenerating ammo in the currently used clip that can cool down after waiting a while.
The effects of that is that levels could have an reduced number of clips found on higher difficulty setting which will require smarter heat...
A good example is the first Deus Ex with the three different endings based on different actions in area 51 and somehow all three endings made it in the storyline of the second game to great effect.
btw Deus ex Human Revolution has the laziest endings in the history of mankind.
According to QI the number of deaths by animals is pretty small
numbers as followed and most deaths are cause by crashing a car trying to miss the animals
