If you could meet a member here on the Escapist in real life, who would it be?

Was hoping to meet Ben Croshaw at last year's IT Journo awards in Sydney, but he pyked out. Mind you, they were handing out crappy generic lumps of perspex this year, so he was probably right not to bother.

BlizzCon '09: Blizzard Talks Diablo III In Q&A Session

Wow. I gotta get me a t-shirt with that on it :)

Poll: should guys shave like girls

No. Men should shave like MEN. With broad, reckless, manly strokes.

    Loud Commercials

Bizarrely, it's not louder, there's just 'more' sound. Video producers use a technique called 'peak limiting' to bring the quieter elements of a waveform up to the same level as the loudest. This means that your annoying advert is essentially no louder (at its loudest point) than the preceding...

    Funniest/creepy glitch in a game?

Crysis. First time I opened it up, the game engine only rendered the eyeballs of all the characters in the scene. It was only after turning off some of the shaders that I saw it rendered properly. Thought it was a slightly weird way to open a game!

    Moral quandary

An interesting collection of responses - most of which appear to be erring on the side of honesty. Guess the gentleman in question should be taking it back to the store, then. (Though I did appreciate the plan to return it, get a credit note and then go spend the difference on further beads...

    Moral quandary

In both cases, I'd probably be so frozen with indecision that the train would run its course.

    Moral quandary

OK. A handsome and erudite gentleman enters a chain store in search of a new iPod. He knows what he wants and how much he's prepared to pay for it, so he approaches the nearest salesperson and says 'Ho, stout yeoman, I should like to acquire a 8gig iPod Touch if you would be so kind. Oh and one...

    One of those questions

Can a pig know Buddha nature? Or was it a dog? Doesn't matter - to me, the sound of one hand clapping is simply "cl"

I don't want to see watchmen!

Seeing it tomorrow with a crowd of similarly-enthusiastic work buddies. Oh, and the missus, whom I've told to not ask any of the usual 'who's he again?' questions until the movie's finished. Even if it turns out to be really really bad, it won't change my opinion of the original work. Just my...

    Top TV Intros

Second that. Always a disappointment when the actual animation lacks the gloss and production of the title sequence, though.

    Earth Hour

OK, I'll bite. Ignoring the fact that switching all the office flourescent lights off for an hour and then switching them back on again actually burns more watts than it saves, the idea of going without electricity for an hour as a consciousness-raising device is naive. We've had it here in Oz...

Commercials You Wish You Could Physically kill.

What's bizarre about the Billy Mays / Oxy Clean ads is that they've been been re-shot for alternative markets. In Oz we have Martin Drellis (and I understand the UK is plagued by its own version). Pete Serafinovicz did a pretty cool parody http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=--dmLwKs_Ww...

To the people who don't pirate: Is life really so bad?

Ideologically, pirates are the moral equivalent of people who illegitimately live off of social security for their entire lives. It takes a lot of people doing the right thing (paying taxes or buying legitimate copies of games/music/movies etc.) to support those who take what they want for...
