David Cross hands down.

Though Super Mario RPG was amazing, I don't think anything in my experience can beat Skies of Arcadia for Dreamcast. I still have it and play it. I don't remember another game that got me so hooked that I would play on the VMU for extra items.

If you are looking for something that is more of a western go with Trigun. Though you can never go wrong with Cowboy Bebop.
