But I would hope that millions of people watching him be like that would start to wonder at what a pathetic
If there is anything I noticed, most gamers and actual game devs/publishers want nothing to do with Musk, or find him a minor eyesore at best (with the Wesbtern publishers. The gamers who thought he would lead them to some pathetic AI woman robot promise land (that will perform their every need) are less in numbers going down enough. There was also the fact that he kept paying people to say he did all these things and games he never played like fortnite. Or let them use their accounts. He got ripped big into that one.

Once it doesn't fall for tricks used in Roadrunner cartoons, we might be talking but, err, it turns out that cameras aren't as useful as LIDAR in this application.
One of the things that's genuinely funny about Musk - particularly with respect to AI and autonomous cars - is that for all the effort and noise he makes to pretend he's a technological genius, almost every time he pipes up about technology he seems to reveal the serious limitations of his knowledge.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few of these (Grok AI, autonomous cars, etc.) divisions of Tesla have no real future. What they do is give the illusion that Tesla has amazing growth prospects. That illusion underpins huge quantities of investor capital and a massive share price, both of which give Tesla enormous freedom to buy stuff: some of which might have a future.

One of the scenes I loved in Iron Man 2 was Justin Hammer describing the Ex-Wife's capabilities. To a layman, it all sounds impressive, but he's basically just reciting a spec sheets without knowing what he is actually saying, as shown by him using the same term twice without realizing it because one's an acronym for the other. He also says that if it were any smarter, it would write a book that would make "Ulysses look like it was written in crayon". On top of being a dumb metaphor to begin with, Ulysses WAS written in crayon when James Joyce first wrote it down.

Just saying, maybe Elon Musk wasn't just a cameo in that movie...

I resent the implication that Musk is a real life Justin Hammer.

Hammer can dance.

Oh boy, it's a bad time for Tesla.

Chinese EV car firm BYD has announced a super-fast charger, twice as fast as Tesla's current best, that can provide ~400km distance off a 5-minute charge.

Cybertruck recall because a panel keeps falling off.

And for Elon personally, investors are getting increasingly twitchy. Although whether they can actually remove him is another matter, because a lot of these tech twats have manufactured interesting ways of taking investors' money whilst heavily limiting their rights on exercising control with their shares.

Tesla much like Twitter is mostly old news, and it also wasn’t even his company initially. He just invested heavily after doing well with PayPal. SpaceX however is his big baby, with a market value of 350 billion as of last December. And it’s still a private company.

Regardless of the more recent social bs everyone loves to dwell on, Musk deserves credit for basically revitalizing the space industry. The Falcon 9 series of rockets has had 461 successful missions out of 464 launches, at a fraction of the cost it would’ve taken NASA, let alone what’s being done with Starship’s reusable Super Heavy boosters.

I think he’d be more palatable to people if he just talked about space and rockets.

Not really.

Then people would talk about how utter nonsensical his Mars colony dreams are and how he is only a poser not understanding science or scale and can't even fathom the problems let alone provide any solutions.

I'd kind of like this explained to me, because I keep hearing it and it has never made sense to me.
Reusable rockets, in a nutshell -

It's a stupid facet of society: We ignore all the hard-working people who actually create the thing, and act like the CEO did all the work.
Well, it was in the second link of this post.
While Musk is widely considered the face of the company, SpaceX has another key executive, Gwynne Shotwell, who is the company’s president and the chief operating officer since 2008. (She joined SpaceX in 2002 to lead business development and got promoted to president after scoring a major NASA contract.)

In an 2016 interview with Y Combinator founder Sam Altman, Musk said Shotwell manages every aspect of SpaceX except design and engineering so that he can focus on just those two things.

“A lot of people think I must spend a lot of time with media or on business-y things. But actually almost all my time, like 80 percent of it, is spent on engineering and design….developing next-generation product,” Musk told Altman. “She (Shotwell) manages legal, finance, sales, and general business activity. And then my time is almost entirely with the engineering team, working on improving the Falcon 9 and our Dragon spacecraft and developing the Mars Colonial architecture.”

Both Falcon 9 and Dragon are part of SpaceX’s operational fleet now, regularly launching satellites, payload and astronauts for NASA and commercial clients.
Another key person behind many of SpaceX’s early spacecraft is the rocket engine expert Tom Mueller, who is also a founding member of the company. Mueller headed SpaceX’s propulsion team until about 2016 and has since then gradually retired.

Musk said in a 2019 tweet that Mueller had been “semi-retired” for about five years and didn’t work on SpaceX’s latest Raptor engine, which is used in the current version of Falcon 9 and Starship. The Raptor engine was a “team effort” with “no single leader,” Musk said.

Would SpaceX exist today at all, let alone its current state, if not for Musk? Doubtful. But his detractors know it’s easier for people to dismiss what he’s built when all they ever hear is Hitler this and hater that. Keep all mainstream coverage negative and go figure what people’s impressions will be.
