I don't know what exactly deprogrammed it as taboo but it seems the Japanese think incest, or toying with incest, is hilarious.

Now to be fair Back to the Future is a very funny movie.
But I also get the impression that they're hardliners for "it's not incest if there's no blood relation", which I don't think tracks as much in the West. There's a bunch of properties where the big twist is that they were never technically related in the first place, therefore it's ok? Like From Up on Poppy Hill and Bunny Drop. Icky.

I can't be sure about this, but I have heard that since the interactions between men and women, boys and girls, in Japan is so stringent, that it's easier for the manga reading/anime watching audience to envision a boy and girl getting together because they grew up together, as opposed to meeting as strangers. Hence why there's also so much childhood friends shit going on in anime and manga. Don't know how true that is, but it does track.

That and apparently Japan has both one of the lowest birth rates in the world (declining every year for at least a decade) and one of the lowest fertility rates in the world (below the standard rate for population stability).

With most couples only having a single kid, I'm guessing that having a sibling becomes a fantasy akin to that of the girl/boy next door: at first you fantasize about having a playmate and then uh something something not like I'm into you baka.

Which puts me in mind of a song:

We have the whole "high school sweet hearts" thing here in the west also and usually that means childhood friends too. I've been watching Buffy and it shows up there early on between Zander and Willow, although while shes into him, hes not into her that way. Plus with how much anime and manga there are thats based on high school (since that is kinda the last time Japanese people are expected to have free time) and such, its bound to be more common. My point is that its much more common in more societies then you think.

Alien worlds that look exactly like earth are unforgivable in videogames. Perhaps in low budget indie movie circles it would be understandable a limitation, but this genre inherently obligates building from the ground up, from absolute nothingness to... somethingness. The only limitations in the way of bold weird fascinating is the budget of your mind, man! Don't even get me started on bloody ferns, omnipresent lurkers with carcinogenic tendancies they are I swear in almost every alien world wtf is going on, is this BIGFERN lobbying the industry or some shit?

Oh I'm not the only one, thank fuck, felt like I was going insane lol
Thats what I've been saying in the Highguard thread. It makes no sense the amount of vitriol its been getting, just because its another hero shooter. I would guess one of the devs once said something "woke" and now the right decided it was the new boogeyman, kinda like this company Sweet Baby they were bringing up for awhile.

Great, gaming in 2035... everyone needs to pay for a computer..... that costs the same as a car to run Witcher 5.

Fucking save us Chinese and Indian RAM, CPU, GPU, semi-conductors, and PSU companies. We need less monopolies from the South Koreans, and Taiwanese.

Context for those of us in the back please?
Short version: the story of Street Fighter 6 set up an incest thing between Alex and his second cousin/adopted sister Patricia by marrying them. Capcom's reception to fans getting rather...upset over this is to patch out the relationship.

Another parry rant, sorry not sorry:

I started a new Demons Souls run. Parrying is logical, intuitive, makes sense, and feels good. And I'm not even playing some kind of parry-reliant duelist character, I'm playing as a mage. But I can parry on certain enemies and certain circumstances as a part of my toolkit, and it's good. And yet after Elden Ring parrying is fucking dogshit and stupid.

I know I know it's my stupid issue I come back to but I can't help it. It just really struck me today.

(This is strictly about 3rd person action/adventure games which is my bread and butter, I'm not talking about other stuff)
