They did. I played the DLC for RE4R.Has to be. Capcom wouldn’t stoop that low.

Like people who think they know everything about magical girl anime after only watching Madoka. And it's the crap you would hear from people who either don't like the genre or think they know everything that needs to be done without much backup or superfluous reasons.

How da fuck do these fools even breathe?Mega Man 10 is retro. Mega Man 2 is not.
Is it the "I've been playing this one game for 1,500 hours and it's boring now, gaming is dead!" crowd? This guy has the right idea, shoots the "Gaming Isn't Fun Anymore" in the back of the head. Stop playing the same shit or only one game everyday, and either take breaks or try something different.
Broken Novocaine does mention them too and a few other types. Is it the "I've been playing this one game for 1,500 hours and it's boring now, gaming is dead!" crowd?
Yes, they're fools for constantly chasing that realistic magic dragon. There are limits, and most of those people ain't gonna be able to afford that shit. Hope you like paying a house note for a shitty graphics card that wastes energy and resources. They had to use two i5090s or whatever just to get the faces to "look good". Wonder how long they're gonna praise "GRAFIXs" when they know they can't afford or have to sacrifice themelves just to achieve. Dumb ass bitches. But just the fact that people even care tells me that some of us do want all the fanciest graphics.
Too pretty? In the video I saw on it every character looked about 10 years older and had a bunch of additional lines on their faces. The recent hullabaloo over Nvidia's DLSS5 presentation proves that people actually do care about graphics.
I'm referring to how many gamer online posters- including all of us here- media types, industry types, etc., frequently claim that graphical fidelility isn't so important, either because it detracts from more important things like gameplay, artistic expression, work-life balance for industry workers, or costs (for production and consumers). You know- horse testicles, and all that.
Well apparently, that is not a universal or overwhelming sentiment because Nvidia presented a showcase for the latest iteration for their DLSS tech- which, as I understand it, is fancy software to upscale graphics- and it is being heavily criticized. Mostly because the faces of the characters look too pretty, like we've crossed the uncanny valley into a generic tart instagram feed. I saw someone call it a "yassify filter" and I giggled.
(I understand it's more complicated than that- devs and players do and will have access to fine-tune settings).
But just the fact that people even care tells me that some of us do want all the fanciest graphics.
Silpheed is such a fun SHMUP. I saw that episode too from supergreatfriend.Too pretty? In the video I saw on it every character looked about 10 years older and had a bunch of additional lines on their faces.
And it's still true that graphical fidelity isn't important to the quality of a game, but it's always been important in marketing. Personally, I find photo-realism utterly boring, adding that level of detail to object models doesn't do a lot for me. For a pointless, tangentially related anecdote, I recently watched SGF play Silpheed for the Sega CD.
Upon seeing the opening cutscene, my immediate reaction was "wow, that looks really good!" Maybe it's the flat polygonal art style, or just the fact that it stands head and shoulders above the quality that other Sega CD games possess, but it was impressive to me in a way that I haven't felt about any AAA in many years. You can tell that the developers were pushing the console near its limits to pull it off.
Yes, but the ones who focus too much on realism forget to have actual gameplay or focus too much on details, when there is not much room for anything else. See Hellblade II or Ryse: Son of Rome.Now- I do NOT think this requires even better graphics than what we have. But I also disagree with the notion that "photorealistic" is inherently worse or boring. There's room for everything.
Or to go old-school to show that this isn't a new problem by any means, one of the many issues with Bubsy 3D was that one of the driving motivations for that game was to have a really high resolution. Not gameplay, not voice acting, not anything else. Just really high resolution. Relevant part begins at the 7:00 mark.Silpheed is such a fun SHMUP. I saw that episode too from supergreatfriend.

The reason Capcom can get away with it in games under the RE Engine, because they have actual gameplay, story, characters, distinct visual styles, or at least most of these to fall back on. Devil May Cry 5, any of the RE Engine games, and the upcoming Pragmata and Onimusha: Way of the Sword.
For another Sony example, see the Ghost games. Both of which that get's this right, but still remember to have a distinct art style and coloring that isn't "real is brown/dull grey".
I've seen this video, but thank you. Still an important history lesson as always.Or to go old-school to show that this isn't a new problem by any means, one of the many issues with Bubsy 3D was that one of the driving motivations for that game was to have a really high resolution.
