The bots are back in town, the bots are back in town!

They're posting Escapist content tho, and the names match those of Escapist contributors, so don't think they're spambots. Tho they might very well still be bots.

Who knows. I was just thrown by the onslaught of posts by "guest" accounts.

I had assumed it was all AI content now. I have a memory that makes a sieve seem watertight, but pretty sure a I remember reading somewhere about another website bought by the same company that now owns the escapist and they let everyone go and just used AI content to pull people in and redirect them to gambling sites.

Apparently, Formula 1's Valtteri Bottas had his personal car stolen form his Air BnB during the weekend of the Miami GP. And of course, [European] fans have taken to social media to blame "America" because the actions of one of us is indicative of the whole of us. I love the sport, but I HATE the fans.

How do you know it was just one American? If 33 million Americans were involved, that's just around 10% of the population, and it would say something about the US as a whole.

(Yes, 33 million people could fit into one car, if they were suitable clownish car thieves, which also says something about the US)

I've no idea (obviously) how many people were involved in the theft; I'm just opposing the hyperbole of Europeans fans to who found the story, that it took place in America, and took to social media with comments like "keep it classy, 'Merica" and "this is why they shouldn't race in America." European fans really are nasty towards F1's American fandom, and this incident just gives them something else to point at as a "reason" we shouldn't be allowed in "their" sport. Of course, there are fans from other continents, but it's mostly the Europeans who are outwardly vitriolic towards the American fandom for petty, gatekeep-y reasons.

More seriously, yeah, one incident of bad publicity and the whole country gets tarred. Don't want to whatabout it, but not just racing fans.

I don't remember the exact quote, but there was a US document about WW2 in Tunisia, about getting along with allies, that ran along the lines of "One stupid American can cause a problem that ten smart Americans can't fix". And, yeah,it's really true...and I feel sorry for the ten smart ones trying to fix it.

It just goes to show those European fans are no different and hypocritical, like the Americans that act like assess and blame the race or generations of others, because of one fool. The toxic parts of any fandom, shut the hell up and fuck off. What makes y'all so different? That just because you're european, that automatically makes you high cultured? Ya foolin yourselves.

Whoever invented clamshell packaging should be locked in a cage with a rabid bear, with the key inside a clamshell package.
What drove this specific complaint? "Clamshell packaging" covers a lot of ground, and I can't imagine a to-go side salad container drew you're ire. I'm assuming the stuff you're talking about is the impenetrable hard plastics they put small, high-value products in to deter in-store thieving, but honest consumers get those products home and slice their fingers down to the white meat trying to open them.

I went on a 3-day solo road trip.

Overall, it was really fun experience. But the hotel that I was staying at kinda sucked. They had a one giant spa pool, which didn't make me feel relaxed at all, the internet connection kinda sucked, and the pillow was too tick and I felt like my neck was being tortured.

But the worst part is, the walls weren't sound-proofed. I could hear what my next-door guests were saying if they were loud enough. I had to sit through some of them.....getting down and dirty with each other.

Thankfully, there were tons of activities to do around the hotel, so I could stay away from it all day.

That's the one, yes. This complaint came after trying to open a container of cherry tomatoes.

Those most have been some extremely succulent cherry tomatoes for that bother. Did they have an ink tag too?

Well, this weekend turned out to be a very "interesting".

On the one hand, one of my best friends lost his father on Saturday. It was not unexpected, the old fellow was over 80 and his health had been on a downward spiral for nearly a year now, but nothing really softens the impact of losing a parent. Sadly, I know that from my own experience when my own parents passed over 20 years ago. In his case, however, it seems family drama got involved and things are going harder for him than they should.

On the other hand, my oldest friend (known them since my college days) had to take his lady to the emergency room because she had a heart attack on Sunday. Thankfully, they got her treatment extremely quickly and the doctor says there does not appear to be any lasting permanent damage done. Unfortunately, because of how they dealt with the angioplasty, she can't use her right arm for about a week and she uses crochet to relax, so she's left a bit pissed off.

In contrast, I spent the weekend being a lazy bum and cat-sitting for someone. I'm there for both my friends, but it's annoying to know there is little I can actually DO other than be there for moral support.

Currently in the stage of planning a summer camp for my volunteer organization; We spend time with mentally disabled individuals.

There were preferred dates that we planned on going, but due to me being a fuck-tard, I didn't actually confirm those dates with the camping ground folks. We managed to get it at the last minute, several weeks later than what we originally planned for.

Now we usually get volunteers to help for the 3 days at the church that I attend (separate entity from the organization), and the announcement was just made last week; We only have 3 volunteers so far, when we need around 30-40.

This is due to the fact that there is a huge wedding happening on one of the days that we scheduled our camps for, and a lot of church folks will be going. That or the mission trip to Arizona teaching the natives how to code.

Suffice to say that I have no one to blame but myself. Had I been more thorough with the camping ground people and actually confirm dates, we wouldn't be in this mess. The one silver lining is that the camp is still like 2 months away, so there is enough time to get more volunteers. The bad news is that due to the terrible timing, I get a feeling there won't be enough volunteers. It's something that I will need to take responsibility for.

Saying this without any sarcasm and unironically; Lord Jesus, take the wheel. We could really use a divine intervention here!
