"How much money will you need?"

"Half a billion dollars."

"Half... What? You're making a video game! A third person shooter!"

"You don't think it's enough?"
Good luck making that money back now that you've made the game Xbox exclusive at the last minute.

Which is crazy, because Micrsoft bought Ninja Theory for their motion capture technology. MS also implied they're next console is going to be a premium for the rich cats. What is even the fucking point of making these, and making E-Day an exclusive? You're not get the money you think MS! If you want to leave, just say it already!

Adding to the above;

So according to a source the people at Ninja Theory got a call telling them they're getting axed.

I might totally be talking out of my butt as I'm too lazy to look up sales figures at the moment, but a studio like Ninja Theory never felt like a good fit for Xbox and its audience to me.

That might be a totally wrong generalisation on my part though.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Companies buying companies should just be illegal. None of this just buying them, if a company wants another then they have to go under and you have to compete for their assets.

If MS didn't buy NT, they would have shut down sooner after the first Hellblade. I am not defending nor justifying MS's decision, but NT unfortunately brought on themselves. No one else wanted them after the DmC fiasco, but Capcom still had a good relationship with them.

Not beating those "released more first-party studios than first-party games" allegations there, XBOX.

They had a room full of suits take wild guesses at what the E stood for and they settled on Expenditures.

Close to half of it is probably marketing.

"We don't need to save Blizzard. We didn't need to save Microsoft or id Software or Ensemble Studios or Atari. We don't need to save ANY game company. If they die, they die. They will be replaced with new, likely superior game companies. Gaming continues."

Okay, another fuck head in the industry sniffing their own farts and ignoring problems around. Nothing new here, and Petersen can fuck off.

Can't speak for other studios, but Compulsion was kinda on the chopping block.

I mean since the founding in 2009, they only released 3 games;

Contrast in 2013, which never seemed to have picked up lots of attention; I recently found out about it as well

We Happy Few in 2016. I distinctly remember crowd-funding this game on Kickstarter. And then I remember how disappointing it was. There seemed to be a lot of things that were missing from the KS project pitch, and the gameplay really didn't click for me.

Finally, South of Midnight in 2025. I never got to playing it, but it seems like while the game is pretty decent, it didn't seem to have been the success that was expected from MS. Plus, those double-standard lunatics (you know whom I am referring to) probably made the game out to be worse than it actually is.

IDK, maybe it was MS not giving them enough resources, maybe it was South of Midnight unfairly not getting enough attention, but with only three games to show for and none of them being smash hits, I'd say the studio is an unfortunate victim.

EA used to be notorious for acquiring and closing down studios from mid-2000s to mid-late 2010s; I guess that crown goes to MS now?

Dunno about that. But the game didn't sell well at all, and Microsoft Gamepass isn't paying back well for games so even if this game had a big audience playing for free on Gamepass that likely hurt them more than helped.

Frankly the game just looks like a copy of Kena Bridge of Spirits but worse because that animation style of 22 fps or whatever the fuck is horrible.

Regardless, this is all microsoft's fault and for buying up so many studios and doing what EA did, but even worse. They're getting rid of any talent or any potential for talent.If it's not under halo, gears or forza.

None of those will save them either.

It's not beyond the bounds of possibility that she's trying her earnest best and she's just getting her legs cut out from beneath her by Microsoft.
As much as I hate to do the whole "blame the guy on the way out for current problems", this really does feel like she's simply trying to put out all the fires that Phil Spencer started.
