They're really easy to swing in big arcs and they dont run out of ammo.

If we're talking firearms, that's an easy one; flamethrower. Studies have repeatedly shown that burning zombies can be outmaneuvered with the old circle-strafe.

Guns are not good weapons in a zombie outbreak unless you have an enormous supply of ammunition. I'd feel safer with a solid physical weapon like a (weighted) baseball bat, sledgehammer or axe. With staying away from the zombies as top priority to prolong your survival.

Assorted furniture, Vcrs...really at that point there will be no planning your either immune or your dead before u have time to plan.

But like i said anything on hand that can be used as both effective zombie dispatchment and also pulls together in a lovely living room set...apocolypse is no excuse for lack of taste after all.
