Mass Effect 4 Is Playable, BioWare Boss Teases On Twitter

BioWare General Manager Aaryn Flynn says he had a wonderful time playing the next Mass Effect game in Montreal.

We don't really know anything about Mass Effect 4 beyond the fact that it is in the works. We do know that it won't be connected to the Commander Shepard trilogy, but aside from that the field is wide open. Sequel? Prequel? The Krogan Wars? The Rachni Wars? The reconstruction effort? Ascendant humanism in a post-mass relay universe? Will it even be called Mass Effect 4? Nobody knows, and BioWare sure isn't saying.

Oh, but they are playing it. "Great time playing the next Mass Effect game in Montreal," Flynn tweeted earlier today. "Ambitious. Beautiful. Fresh but recognizable. And fun!" And to drive the point home, he tacked on a picture of the BioWare logo laid over what appears to be a planet seen from orbit.

Flynn said nothing more about it, but of course that's the game: Get us all wound up without actually revealing anything. I'd say it's a game he plays pretty well - after he's done playing Mass Effect 4, of course. Thanks, Aaryn.

Man, I've always wanted them to say something like "I played it but fucking hell, buggy, texture pop in constantly, unstable FPS and god was it boring" ... just so I know they aren't just spouting PR bull shit/hype building.

At the moment all it says is "ME4 is playable!" everything else is just padding ... think he has an account on here? I'm just Joshin' ya!

Can't wait to play it ... just hope they have a person like Jack, love that character!

Why do I struggle to have even the tiniest bit of faith in that claim? Beautiful, check. Recognizable? Ofcourse, when everything is the same tripe. Fun? Could very well be.

Ambitious and Fresh from these two companies though? Highly doubtful.

Huh, seems PS2 servers being constantly down has a direct impact on my levels of negativity. Or maybe it's just no longer falling for the hype of those who have already shown true colours.

Sorry, but that ending to Mass Effect 3 was still terrible.
We know they've all but confirmed ME4 will not be a prequel because that means no humans, so anything but making one of those crappy endings canon will mean they've lost face.
And given at this point the only permanent members at Bioware are writers, that won't happen.

Sorry, I don't mean to turn this into an ME3 ending thread, but that coupled with their PR response to 'deal with it', I just...... don't care anymore about what Bioware does.

The Twitter pic was originally in Blue, and there was only 1. I photoshopped the red and green versions as a cheeky reference to the Mass Effect 3 ending.

You know, there was a time when I would be super excited for this. Alas, ME3 still rings hollow in my mind and as such, anything Mass Effect related is just an echo in my brain at the moment. I will give the game a chance, but my expectations are no where near what they used to be, and if the storyline doesn't sound interesting, then I probably won't care.

Dragon Age III on the other hand is slowly raising my hopes.

Good to hear things are progressing. I'm definitely getting a bit excited! I wonder if hoping for a late 2015 release date is a tad too optimistic...?
