Terminator's got a point... and well those anime girls which are said to be 18 look to me like they're barely 14 (in some animes, not all). But (big but) considering the culture of some people (child marriages) and even the past of western civilisations (I'm pretty sure most still allowed 20ish if not older men to marry girls which were 12 or over, in fact if I remember correctly a girl was classified an old woman if she wasn't married by 19) we can hardly be surprised as it's something deeply engrained in society today and thus will take quite a while to root out completely (though if you ask me in certain situations genuine love between a 14-15 year old and someone older, IE 20-25, is not only possible I have actually seen such cases in my life which to be frank to the law beg for a trial but to those 2 individuals it doesn't matter so the law itself needs to change quite a bit as right now it is too much of an area affect weapon deal).

This just goes to show how messed up our lawsystem is. We have the largest prison population in the world. But our total population ranks only 5th in the world. We spend more money each year on cops lawyers courts and prison upkeep then we spend on the Iraqi war each year. No wonder this country is going under.
While i do agree with you on how time should be spent on more serious offences, if the rules arent enforced even in situations like this, will anyone come to follow the rules?
First initial response is how many 14 year olds do you know that follow the rules. More importantly it's this blind justice mentality that is the real culprit. Our percentage of prisoners to overall population is at the same as when alchohol was made illegal.

That in turn played a major part in us going into the great depression. When tax dollars are siphoned off to support an overflow of prison population it leads to National Bankruptcy. We simply do not have the resources to fund such an enormous expenditure.

One of two things needs to happen. A) Re-evaluate our laws and sentencing guidelines. B) Start executing prisoners.

So let me get this straight....

a 14 year old girl posts naked pictures of herself, and gets busted for child pornography.. a crime of which she is in fact the victim? So she's the victim and the accused of the same crime? How does that even work? This may truly by the first victimless childporn arrest. Blows my fucking mind.

And.. you're charged if you downloaded the photo, but not if you innocently viewed it? So if you right-clicked the image and went "save as" then you're a criminal? That's the definition they're using? because all clients download things. If you casually viewed the pictures in question, they're on your computer somewhere, until you delete them. What it seems to me is.. if you move the file from your temporary internet files in some way, you're a criminal, but if you don't, and just have the image in your temporary files, you're a victim, or at least aren't a criminal..

What's next? are they going to bring charges against a monkey? Like, if the monkey that maimed that woman wasn't killed on the scene, and they took it in, would they press charges? honestly, in this system, it wouldn't surprise me.
They had an emergency congressional panel and passed monkey legislation. Problem for them congress is a bunch of monkeys.

I would have to disagree with you on this matter. Her myspace page was set to private. She was posting pictures for her boyfriend.

Was it stupid to do that?

Absolutely. She is a typical idiotic teenager.

Does she need to knock on doors every time she moves, check off sex offender on a job application, and register with a police department for the for the next 50 plus years?

Call me crazy, but I think that is considered cruel and unusual punishment.

I think its a hilarious punishment!!! AHAHAHA!!!

1 Stupid thing and she will be checked in on every month for the next 50 years...I just think that hilarious, it just shows how little our system budges for things that are differnet than
The Black Person mugging a rich white man<------thats a Code 1 in Police Talk
Afro-American/ Hispanic Gang shooting<----------- Code 2
Somebody raping a kind white woman<-----------Thats Code Black..eheheheheh...racsism is funny

This just shows us that the judical system need some reform to work with the heavily changing times... I used those bigot terms/steriotypes to show that racism is still prevalent in our justice/police branch of our government.

jeez, well I think that we all agree that it is a terrible act to abuse children, but as the most of you say, she is in fact the victim, but if she distributed it, well then i can see thhe problem, but i think that they need a little modification of the laws over there, because this case is just plain stupid.
many these days use the internet to get as much attention as possible, and sadly many don't know the consequences, it is quite sad in fact, because many of these kids are doing it because they have some trouble to socialize with other people around them.
The state was even trying to punish children who was posting these pictures of themselves, what does they learn about that? nothing...trust me i have a good friend of mine who did some of the same things

Well, I´m glad you avoided a horrendous demise. It would have been a fate worse than death. It´s good you found your way here; Together we can hold the infected at bay.
Sounds like an L4D slogan.

OT: Understandable, but perhaps a bit knee-jerk. Regardless, you'd have to be incredibly stupid to even consider doing such a thing. Those parents need a mandatory week-long 24/7 parenting course.

MySpace is a haven for supreme idiots, trolls, hackers and sex offenders.
and sometimes its used exactly what it was created for. by those of us decent enough to just want to keep in contact with friends who constantly change their emails for whatever reason. i have friends in the military i don't get to see who thats our only form of contact, some use facebook but most use myspace. its the way the world works.
What the hell ever happened to e-mail?

She was distributing them to a select group of her minor peers. This was a private myspace page. Which also means many more kids may face jail time and sex offender status. It's a bad situation there is no easy answer. But they are going overboard on this one in my opinion.

You have a twisted sense of humor Marv. I can see the humor in this. It is so over-the-top it becomes a long running joke.

The more freedoms we have taken away from us. The less of a free nation we become. We are now just a Nation of Laws.

Child pornography. Dirty business. We need to castrate real criminals.

This girl is a victim of the way the law was written.

Finally Im glad someone finally gets my sick, dark sense of humour, thats sarcastic but If you truly take a look at it, it reveals truth, to which people normally wouldn't think........But aside my from joking I didn't read the whole story, if it was private...truly she is the victim, your right, no one should be prosecuted in my true opinion. Here in America the Victims have less rights than the criminals, which is defintely wrong, but if your falsely accused it works out pretty well.

The real deal is not what the government is going to do to the girl...it shouldn't be worried, it should be what the parents are going to do...that girl is going to get it!!!

But since she posted the picture of herself, she shouldn't she fined, convicted or any of that shit, maybe a small fine, because of all the governement work into this, yet this was a wake up call to her parents... In the end I truly don't care, but for the sake of ethics I am going to just downright say, "she is the victim here take the pictures off slap her on the wrists and tell her to get the hell out of myspace,"

Do not hate the player(girl), hate the game(the man for putting her in a postion of doing this to get him internested again and to have him either spread it around or to show his friends etc.)
