Didn't see a thread on this. Thought I'd throw it up there. Feels particularly relevant for me as this was basically right in my back yard.

As someone who had their fair share of bullying when I was that age, and remembering how completely incapable of dealing with it, or growing a "thicker skin", or rationally assessing the importance of the opinions of teenaged peers, I find the plaintive need for some kind of validation or rescue in her video absolutely wrenching. As usual, though, this is coming to everyone's attention long after the coop door was left open and the fox ate all the chickens.

How she made it through four schools and a suicide attempt without SOMEONE being able to put a stop to this crap is beyond me. But it really pisses me off.

Captcha: Ice to meet you. I'm not in the mood for your bullshit, Captcha.

People tend to not notice or care about others plights until it is too late.

Just a fact of life.

I don't want to be "that guy" but according to the article she was posting explicit videos and photos of herself online and got upset when some guy shared them with "everyone". Something tells me alot this could of been avoided if she wasn't an attention whore and kept her clothes on.

She was what...12 or so at the time? Did you make a lot of intelligent decisions at that age?

If a girl does seek attention, does that mean she merits constant hounding and abuse until she's dead?

My condolonces to the family, RIP.

But you know what pisses me off is that I can probably guarantee that those same people that bullied her are now inevitably saying shit like "Oh, it's so sad" and all that bullshit, when it was partly their fault.

This is horrible, she was just a kid.

I honestly don't know how those people who bullied her can live with themselves.
She took her shirt off and so she deserves to be hounded to death for it?
Fucking morons.

I'm really sad that nobody was able to help her.

This is exactly why I am going to strictly monitor my kids' internet usage (when I have them of course). There are far too many spineless fucks out there. I hope everyone directly responsible for this girl's depression learns from this. In a perfect world they'd get eaten by yetis, but we don't always get what we want it seems.

That video was fucking depressing. I need a hug :(

So it's her fault that people went out of there way to bully, torment and beat her so much she killed herself?

You have a serious problem with your view point, Jesus.

So you went ahead and was that guy anyway. Nice.

That's a perfectly acceptable thing to be upset about since that's a pretty classic definition of betrayal of trust.

Yeah. I was about 2 minutes into it and I was "Oh god, why did I click on this". By the time "Breathe Me" kicked in I was seriously depressed. Fuck that goddam song.

I think if I had a daughter I would literally chew my own leg off from stress.

I've known for awhile that I'd be a pretty "hands-on" parent when that stage of my life begins, but this stuff just scares the hell out of me when it comes to parenting. This would ruin my life if I were her dad.

Obviously it's not anyone's fault entirely, but unless she was incredibly naive, she must have known she was posting those videos for some form of attention, either good or bad. It's a failure on the part of her family, herself, the school, and bullying individuals involved - it can't just be attributed to the bullies.

Right, but it doesn't say she was posting them online. The article says she flashed one person on a whim, if that person chose to circulate it (or something else she had sent them in confidence) she can't be held accountable. If you send something to your partner (prospective or otherwise) there's an expectation of privacy, and - y'know; not having it used against you.

Someone chose to circulate the image, maliciously. It existing isn't an excuse for that behaviour, nor a reason for what she did.

Not only circulated it, attempted to use it to blackmail her into further "shows". Given she was a minor at the time...

Why she did it is somewhat irrelevant anyway. She was 12-years-old. She lacked the judgement necessary to make that call on her own and could not even hope to fathom the consequences of her actions.

I am amazed she didn't black mail the person right back threatening to send them to prison for child pornography. There is so many things that could have been done both by her and other people I am amazed nobody stepped up and did something serious about it especially the parents.

Really sad story that is for sure poor girl.

What about the creepy fuck who was tracking down all her personal info? Why weren't the police knocking on his door in the middle of the night?

I like how everyone is seemingly assuming that this bully was a adult and not some teenager hoping to see some more with his/her leverage.

Sucks that she killed herself, I'd still consider it a overreaction though.
No-one has assumed it was an adult, and what does it matter what age they were in the first place? It doesn't, being 14 or 44 doesn't change what someone did on purpose to hurt her.
