Far Cry 3 Confirmed

A Ubisoft [http://www.ubi.com] employee has confirmed that Far Cry 3 is in the works, saying that the game looks "pretty exciting" so far.

Far Cry 2 [http://www.farcry2.com/] wasn't exactly a runaway smash hit, but sales were apparently solid enough to warrant a third addition to the franchise. While Ubisoft hasn't issued any official word on the game at this point, Ubisoft writer Kevin Shortt confirmed with Official PlayStation Magazine that a second sequel is in the works.

"No I'm not," he said when asked if he was working on Far Cry 3. "But I know the team are and what I've seen looks pretty exciting."

Nothing else was said about the game, so whether we'll embark upon another trek through the jungles of Africa or head off elsewhere is unknown, but CVG [http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=228138] noted that Far Cry 2 story designer Patrick Redding said last year that the followup would "likely" remain in Africa, although a jaunt to Antarctica was also possible. Antarctica? Hey, as long as I get to wear a Hawaiian shirt to the party, I don't much care where it is.

Shocking!
Next you'll be telling us they're making a follow up to gta4.
I just don't know which one I'm looking forward to less.
FC2 wasn't a bad game, I just couldn't get into it.

Well if they improve on Far Cry 2 as much as they improved on Assassin's Creed, this could warrant for quite an awesome sequel. FC2 had pretty much the same problems as AC, and AC2 fixed pretty much all major gameplay problems, so I hope Ubisoft will do the same with the Far Cry franchise.

Aslong as they fix the problems from the previous game like not being able to be stealthy even if you tried long boring missions that were just a rehash of each etc I could go on for a bit this game would be good.

I'm actually pretty excited about this. I hope Activision listen as well with this as they did with Assassin's Creed
I think you mean Ubisoft.

If they have a gorgeous open world, tense gunplay, and strong writing like in Far Cry 2, and add a better story with more dynamic AI (and maybe co-op play), I'm sold.

I just hope this game includes a stealth system in any way shape or form. There was nothing more depressing in the second one than sneaking up in pitch black, surrounded by brush, and then then having a guard spot me before I can get off a sniper round. Even after I fired, they wouldn't immediately know the exact spot the shot came from, which of course they did. I'd understand if they took cover from the direction the shot came from, but to give away my exact location from about 100y out, was pretty bullshit. Most other Ubisoft game has a stealth system, why should this one be any different? Especially when you are in a damn jungle.
