Who Will Be the Next Bond?

The suspension of "Bond 23," the new James Bond film that's trapped in development limbo thanks to the uncertain future of MGM, has led to a new and rather unexpected question: Has Daniel Craig's [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0185819/] time come to an end?

Daniel Craig's selection as the new James Bond was met with a certain amount of trepidation among fans, but that went out the window in a hurry when Pierce Brosnan [http://www.amazon.com/Casino-Royale-2-Disc-Widescreen-Daniel/dp/B000MNP2KI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1278527876&sr=1-1].

But production on his third Bond movie, code-named Bond 23, has been halted "indefinitely" [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/100107-James-Bond-Finally-Meets-Defeat] while the mess at MGM gets sorted out and while there's no question that another Bond film will be made, and little doubt at this point that Craig will star, the possibility that he may be replaced if the delay grows too long is suddenly being kicked around.

As the GoldenEye [http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/8635409.stm]. If the MGM trouble drags on, could it be that Craig will be out after only two films? And if so, who will step in to take over?

According to British bookie William Hill, the number one choice is Will Smith [http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0941777/]. Yes, that Will Smith.

Boy, I sure hope Daniel Craig comes back.

Wow. I seriously hope Christian Bale does not get this part if they decide to get rid of Craig. I did like Worthington in Terminator though, he might be able to pull off Bond.

Oh dear... I love Daniel Craig. He's a refreshing change from Brosnan, who was good in Goldeneye and The World is Not Enough but not in the others. Die Another Day was terrible... Just terrible.

I guess I could see Worthington or Bale doing it, but they seem kind of generic. But Will Smith? That's just catering to those people [http://www.thenewblackmagazine.com/view.aspx?index=551] that say it's racist for Bond to always be white... Smith is fine in movies like Bad Boys II, that are action-comedies. But James Bond..? Imagine the uproar if a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air movie was made with Daniel Craig playing him.

They better keep Daniel Craig on. The guy has done a fantastic job as the new 'gritty and dark' Bond.

But Will Smith? Seriously? No. Just no

Holy fuck, and I was going to make a joke post suggesting Will Smith...

Now I've actually read the article and ouch.

Meh, why the hell not. It's just James Bond.

It should be me!

Sam Worthington? Fuck that! The guy can't hardly act.

Christian Bale? Hell no! Is he gonna continue his bullshit grizzly bear batman voice as Bond as well?

And Will Smith? Are you kidding???

I dont like Daniel craig much but I would like to see Will Smith playing Bond just for the reaction to everyone when they found out. As I say Daniel Craig is killing the Bond series 1 movie at a time.

Whoever suggested Will Smith should be drawn and quartered... metaphorically....

I nominate Steve Buscemi.

Will Smith would only work as Bond if they definitely establish that Fan theory that James Bond is a Code Name that is passed down to each new 007 along with the 007 number.

And only if he had a British Commonwealth accent. I for one would never tolerate a Bond without at least a Commonwealth accent. But not Canadian... (And I'm American)

I'm think Bale would work if he wasn't shouting or angry for most of it. (And no Batman voice like in Terminator Salvation...)

Worthington would be fine.

I'm sorry, but if Will Smith gets it, I have forever lost faith in the James Bond name. I still cannot forgive him for what he's doing to Karate Kid... ugh..... and here comes the rage again.

But I hope Craig maintains the spot. He's done an excellent job, I think he's the best Bond in quite a while.

Bale and Worthington are OK-ish choices, but I'd preffer a fresh face, like Craig was when he first started playing Bond.

As for Will Smith playing James Bond, if that happens I demand that there be a new "Shaft" movie in which the titular role is played by Mike Myers...

I puked a bit in my mouth when you said Will Smith. Him as Bond is like using McDonalds ingredients to make entrecôte. And with the rest alternatives, I'd rather keep Daniel.

Will Smith? NO NO A MILLION TIMES NO. Worthington and Bale i know little about worthington but i'm sure i can handle him and Bale? Well he might be a drunken shouty man but he has the look of a potential bond.

doesn't bother me, i wasn't overly keen on Daniel Craig. he was OK but if h gets replaced i won't sign a petition to get him to stay. i like Casino Royale during the card game and stuff but after that it went downhill. Quantam of Solace was meh, too.
