Bale and Worthington are OK-ish choices, but I'd preffer a fresh face, like Craig was when he first started playing Bond.

As for Will Smith playing James Bond, if that happens I demand that there be a new "Shaft" movie in which the titular role is played by Mike Myers...
I too would demand that, hell I also agree with your suggestion of keeping fresh faces. An established A list Actor means you'll be watching the actor rather than the character. They should just keep to their tradition of getting actors who are great but just haven't broken into the A leagues yet.

Though i'd prefer them to keep Daniel Craig, as I think he's a great actor I'm going to go ahead and suggest Jamie Bamber, just cos i'm a battlestar galactica whore :D

Well, they are playing British. *sound of crickets*

Bah! Who needs Bond nowadays? Bourne showed up and kicked ass. His style is more contemporary and awesome. He lives in a society filled with cameras and surveillance (quite like ours) but needs nothing but his wits to pwn n00bs.

They should shelve Bond. Bourne is here to stay.

Excluding the obvious, Will Smith isn't even British, and I doubt he'd be able to pull off the accent - it ends up somewhere between uproariously posh (I'm only merely roariously posh after all) and cockney when Americans try it.

Sam Worthington looks slimy and untrustworthy in that picture, and Christian Bale is... well... Christian Bale.

Sam Worthington - meh.
Christian Bale - meh.
Will Smith - wait, what? Actually, he might be able to pull it off, provided he leaves the whole Fresh Prince persona behind and can manage a convincing English accent.

Well James Bond has to be English so go figure.

Oh and the world will be destroyed by the LHC before Will Smith is 007.

I wouldn't mind Sam Worthington, nor would I have a problem with Bale. I like them both far more than the previous two Bonds.
Not saying they were bad.

I really hope MGM pick this up ASAP, because frankly, I think that if they've hit money troubles, the collective £13.90 from every other wallet in the UK will help a little.

And I'm not sure about an American Bond...
It would seem weird, and unnatural.
That said, if Will Smith played Bond it would certainly give the theorists [http://www.cracked.com/article/18367_6-insane-fan-theories-that-actually-make-great-movies-better/] a bit of non-official confirmation.

You get a cookie for the stealth-witty social commentary.

Although truth be told, Will Smith has way more charisma than Sam Worthington and Christian Bale, and I think the Bond character is best served with that kind of actor. If Craig was out, I wouldn't mind seeing Jason Statham take a crack at it. I think he fits the bill for the character on a lot of the points.

Sam Worthington?

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr... No. For a start it needs to be a Brit, and it can't be Will Smith; it is the same person, sure the actor's change but having a black american in the role would be ridiculous.*

Craig's the best bond by far - and I can't imagine him leaving the films after only 2 (despite this delay).

Who ever's idea it was to have Will Smith play James Bond... should be killed, no trail... no jury... no arrest, just flat out killed. Some one walk in with a Desert Eagle and do him/her with it... don't even speak to it, just walk in and shoot it. Put the world at ease.

Okay now that I've got my psychotic thought out of the way... I'd like either Sam or Bale... I guess they could all fit the role, Bales a good actor and Sam's a good new actor too.

Erm, wasn't George Lazenby Australian? he played James Bond before. Besides Aussies can pull off a British accent pretty well if they want to.

Will Smith? Seriously? They might as well just turn the next Bond film into Bad Boys 3 if they did pick him. I know I certainly wouldn't watch it.

Sigh. Call me nuts, but I'd finance this film myself if they got John Barrowman to sign on for it.

Sam Worthington. Hmm... no. Honestly, any of his acting works have been underwhelming to me. Not to say you need to be Oscar caliber to pull of Bond, but I just can't seem him being Suave and Sophisticated for the role.

Christian Bale, I can see, but I strongly doubt. He can do action, and sophisticated, as seen in the Dark Knight. However, if he can keep riding that cash cow, why switch? Plus, I think most people would see him in a Bond film, and be unable to divorce him from the Batman role.

Will Smith, ironically, I think is the person who I can see the most of the three. He can do sophicated, non "Bad-boy" movies, can pull of some dry wit (the only knock on the Craig bond), and he can do action. The only knocks is 1) No brit accent, but I think he could work on that, and 2) He's black, which would require an acknowledgement that 007 isn't one character, but a succession of characters with the same name and number.

Honestly, one actor I wouldn't mind seeing play the role would be Robert Downey Jr. He's no stranger to action movies, the british vibe, gadgets and dry humor (hell, just stick Sherlock Holmes in the 21st Century...) I can see him doing a very, very good Bond.

Me and my dad talked about that actually, back when the last Bond position was in the air. Statham could pull it off if he 'poshed' his accent up a bit.

Clive Owen

Clive Owen

I don't care if he's older than Craig, the world deserves to see Clive Owen as James Bond! Christian Bale would be good, but only if he channels Patrick Batemen and not Bruce Wayne.

Or Craig again with a better script than Quantum of Sausage delivered...
