Interplay Launches Fallout Online Teaser Site

It's official: Interplay's post-nuclear MMOG is called Fallout Online and the teaser site has gone live.

Fallout Online is clearly going to be the best MMOG ever, towering over even deadlock in court [http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dvideogames&field-keywords=%22world+of+warcraft%22&x=0&y=0]. Obviously, some higher power really wants this game to exist.

And now it's one step closer to that goal. The near-mythical Project V13 has been unveiled as Fallout Online thanks to a new teaser site that features art, a mailing list and an option to be informed when the beta registration begins. It's a safe bet that some kind of shady backroom dealings took place between Bethesda and Interplay to make this happen, but at this point, nobody's sayin' nothin'.

That's the good news. The bad news is that the site is being absolutely clobbered at the moment, so actually getting there and signing up is a pretty dicey proposition right now. Best bet is to try your luck at fallout-on-line.com [http://www.fallout-on-line.com], wait awhile and try again; really, your best bet is to just forget about the whole thing until sometime next week, but you're not going to do that, are you?

If all goes according to plan, Fallout Online will be out in a couple of years. And it will be awesome.

I agree, i think single player games are almost always better than MMO's unless you just want crazy fun with friends. Luckily this MMO is in the hands of the original Fallout creators.

Oh yay, more MMORPGs carved from series' that should remain single-player.

At least it isn't being used to replace the existence of a long-awaited and much needed sequel, one that could make up for the rather shoddy second game that was developed by a sub-par studio with a restricted development time...

Oh, hello The Old Republic.

Finally managed to get signed up. It's going to be a looooong wait. I heard the beta isn't even starting until 2012. But I have a feeling that this is going to be awesome.

Sons of various bitches. That's two MMO announcements that are making me desperately want to get back into MMOs.

The games industry is plotting against me for my precious moneys.

This could really go either way. Be a completely amazing MMO with the best story and have actual fun quests or just be complete and utter shit which tarnishes the fallout name.

I still try it though when it comes out.

But yeah i totally agree, most MMO's today fail at quests and the like.

Come on, guys. I don't like MMOGs much myself, but the Fallout world is absolutely begging for one. I can't imagine a setting that's more ready-made for massive online play than this one.

Correct, but we already have Fallen Earth, do we really need another post-apocalyptic FPSMMO?

I'd rather have a post-apoclyptic FPSMMO filled to the brim with SCIENCE!

Money. If you can sell game once for 50 bucks and then get 15 more each month its better than just selling it once. Blame WoW for making a niche genre mainstream.

As for the FO, considering how long ago the first rumors about this game appeared, im feeling i might not live long enough for it to go live, but ill be happy to give it a try when its out, need more non-fantasy MMOs.

Yeah, for that matter why do we need the Xbox 360, the PS3, or modern PC games.

We have the Sega Genesis and Windows 2000

I didn't think this one would see the light of day. in fact, I'm still not convinced it will. I was sure Bethesda was gonna win in court and have this shut down. Oh well, might turn out cool I suppose? Fallout could prolly end up being pretty cool as an MMO.

Sa-weet! Signed up for that! I just hope it'll be Mac compatible, though I am not optimistic. One more reason to bootcamp Windows 7, I guess.

Very exciting.

Will this be in the style of Fallout 1 or Fallout 3? Because either could work. Would they remove VATS entirely? Not sure how this is going to work, but it should be interesting watching this unfold. Only time will tell... and if it's not going to use subscriptions, I'm going to play it.
