Most of the games that I want to play were only released in Japan. So I need to learn Japanese or dorm in the cultural immersion dormitory next semester.

Most of the best "slow paced" strategy games are made by American or European companies. Sudden Strike has to be one of my favorite strategy games and it was not made by the Japanese. I don't label or stereotype myself. I try almost any type of game and if I like it I continue playing it and if I hate it, well I keep playing until I can't take it anymore. And what about all those ridiculous fast paced 2D shooters for NES and SNES that the Japs put out? I can really go on and on about how grossly you generalized this and give you counter examples, but I really don't want to do that, now do I?

Surely mech games require some of the fastest reflexes and platformers. Anyway I am both.

Yes i'm glad many of you noticed it. I basicly replaced Twichy gamer with western and slow paced with eastern. I was trying to point out the fact that people who call themselfs twichy gamers generaly tend to belive that all games from japan are bad. And that those who call themselfs slow paced gamers that all games not from japan are bad. I was only trying to point out what the sterio types are.

Also I never said you had to be one of the other only that those were the two end of the spectrum. Like saying liberal or conservative, while you can be far on one side or the other most people aren't.

100% PC, and mostly 'western' gamer. I play some strategies and adventures, too, but it's been a long time since I've played a japanese game

Both my games are 50/50. But I'm not going to label myself. If you want to label yourselves go right ahead.

I´m sorry but, isn´t "Gran Turismo" and "Ridge Racer" Japanese?

Also the most "twitchy" kind of Shooters (Shoot´em ups) are mostly Japanese, and lets not forget fighting games and 3rd person action games.
This.

And this.

Hell, Starcraft was not made in the Far East.

I grew up with my SNES until I got my first Playstation. Then a PS2, X-BOX, and now X-BOX 360. I am a mix of both I think. I like Japanese rpg's, I like American rpg's, I like First Person Shooters as well. Although I hate racing games. I am no good at them but I do like the Grand Theft Auto series. If my love for anime is involved than I am an Eastern gamer. I do have Polish in me.

There are two types of people: those who like to divide people into two types of people and those who don't like to divide people into two types of people.

100% Western, casual gamer. (I guess since I play WoW, I'd be 50% PC 50% console). Grew up with Atari, then didn't touch a console till Xbox. I like Western RPGs (KOTOR, especially) and FPSs, hate fighting games and platformers.

Both. One of my favorite games ever, are Kingdom Hearts I and II, which are, like, Japanese RPGs that resemble WRPGs alot.

But seriously, both. I enjoy JRPGs (FF, Chrono series, TWEWY) and generally RPGs alot, plus I also like run'n'gun FPSs alot.

But the genres I hate are RTS (only one I liked was W40K: Dawn of War) and simulation (like Sims, Spore etc)
I also find sports games really boring, except extreme sports game a la Skate and the older Tony Hawk's games.

I guess I fall mainly into the Eastern category, though not entirely. JRPGs and Strategy games are my poisons of choice, also MMORPGs, if you'd count those. I don't know if its too sweeping and general to say that a larger percent of the so called "eastern gamers" like MMORPGs more than "western gamers", Just an opinion there.

Well, only a few shooters I ever played and like, but they count anyway. Unreal Tournament games, Mass Effect, and s4 league(if that even counts).

the super nintendo was my first system, but I had no clue what "RPG" even stood for till I played FF9 at a friend's house. Always being a fan of fantasy reads like my parents before me, I didn't stand a chance of avoiding love of JRPGs
So er... yeah. ^_^
