Trailer: Dragon Age 2's Possessed Hero Unleashed in March


Dragon Age 2 now has an official release date, with a trailer revealing the hero isn't as regular as you thought.

BioWare has announced that previously revealed [http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-2-Pc/dp/B003UF9E0O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1282071425&sr=8-2] main character, is so important.

Not only has BioWare called Hawke a "legendary figure in the history of Thedas," he's been named "the single most important character in the world of Dragon Age [http://www.amazon.com/Dragon-Age-Origins-Pc/dp/B001IK1BWC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1282071418&sr=8-2]." Dragon Age 2 will change things around from the first title, implanting players into the role of Hawke rather than allowing them to determine their own origin. After seeing this trailer, I'm not upset about that at all.

The trailer starts off innocently enough, with Hawke engaged in a battle with a darkspawn. Weapons clash and faces are punched, just like you'd expect. Then, something happens that you never want to be on the opposite end of: Hawke's eyes start to glow.

And if you're ever fighting against an enemy and see him having a flashback in the middle of a fight, you'd better end his life before it's over, because he's always going to come out of it with some kind of new power or strength. In Hawke's case, he's then able to cast a spell that conjures two giant demon hands to rip his darkspawn enemy in half. It's just a tease for now, but I'm definitely more interested in seeing what Hawke's deal is over the 10 years of story BioWare says Dragon Age 2 will cover.

I'm not so sure that's a darkspawn. I think it's a Qunari. It was stated recently that Sten was weird for not having horns, and that enemy doesn't display the basic decaying, ragged, evil elements that darkspawn usually have.

So yeah, pretty sure he's just a Qunari.

Oh. My. God. It looks like a JRPG.

Seriously though, I hate when games do this, and they do it a lot. Nice looking cutscene that shows nothing from the game, and 99% of the time, isnt in the game at all. If your going to TEASE, atleast give us something to wrap our minds around other then a possessed hero.

I'm sure they're will be other trailers that do show gameplay. This is one of the first trailers out for this game.

OT: I was going to get this game no matter what, simply because I loved the first one. I know a lot of things are different, like the origins and preset character, but I'm sure the story and actual game will make up for it. I also heard you could set the gender, and that you'll get to choose how you fight (Mage, Rogue, Warrior) so it's not entirely preset, which is cool.

I can't really form an opinion on this! Although has Bioware been bought out by the Japanese? I was expecting to see Aeris being lowered into the water at one point.
