That's pretty mean thing to do. When I saw it I didn't realise that it actually was supposed to be a real party invite. I'm pretty sure a lot of people thought like me and took it as a joke which is why it got so many people. Well I guess this girl learnt a good lesson out of this.

Personally I'm not so quick to label this Anonymous without further proof
I was in the thread where they were organizing it. Didn't do anything other than derail it, because even a troll facebook is more than I want to have, and it's more fun to troll trolls anyway. But this was definitely Anonymous.

OT: I don't see the problem. "Oh no, Anonymous made a girl's life more interesting"? This isn't even Anonymous wrecking a life, which I don't have a problem with either. It just is a funny story she can tell her friends about in a few years.

Anonymous is not as scary as people think.

Okay, seriously, Anonymous isn't a hacktivist group.

There are members of Anonymous who are involved in hacktivist activities.

There are also members of Anonymous who are complete dickholes.

Next, there was no hacking of Facebook. Someone got an invite. Girl allowed people she invited to invite other people.

Girl invited someone who decided to start inviting a shitton of other people, and it went viral because someone probably posted about it on /b/ and /soc/. Considering how butthurt the girl got, and how police got involved, I'm sure many lulz were had. And considering it happened again, I'm sure even more lulz were had.

This is her fault for being stupid and not taking advantage of Facebook's privacy settings. If you can't take a joke, get off the internet. Srs bsns indeed.

Also, I suck for breaking rules 1 and 2, but whatever. :p
Someone give this guy a medal for accurately explaining an event.

Also, rules 1 and 2 only apply to raids and trollin', ******. Lrn 2 4chan.

EDIT: Wahey, double post. My bad, y'all.

Man..that would be one hell of a party. You'd have to get inventive about hiding your booze though.

If it wasn't for the fact i'm sure a handful of them 200k people are.. prolly not good people, and now the poor things address is public knowlage, i'd find this story to be kind of funny. I mean, i'm hoping nothing comes of it, and the poor little thing is left alone after this. If that's the case, and no harm comes of it, it's accually kind of funny and will give this girl an intresting story to tell. And I do hope for the best.

I'm willing to bet that Jess will be much more willing to take advantage of Facebook's privacy settings. Honestly, she should have been careful in the first place, but this seems like a pretty mean-spirited prank.
Why? The "feel free to invite other people" seems perfectly reasonable when you're making a party and I wouldn't really hold a 15 year old to expect this level of douchebaggery.

I've got nothing to say except that Cory guy handled the news woman excellently, he started out apologetic for what happened, but when she started pushing for him to pretty much just parrot exactly what she wanted him to say and just act like 'duh I'm just a dumb kid I'm sorry' on national TV, he evidently decided to just mess with her instead, and I stand up for that, if not for actually the party stuff (which again, wasn't really his fault, it's the fault of those who showed up to cause trouble.)

Sure he looked like a dick, but why should he completely show himself on national TV just to make her show a bit better, and why should he stand there and look at his shoes and go 'sorry, I won't do it again, and kids, if you're thinking of holding a party, you just go ahead and ask mommy first'. Screw that, I'd have been all for apologising, but I wouldn't have turned into the news anchor's *****, either.

IF I was his dad, sure I'd be pissed about the party and the potential fine and damages, but damn, I'd be proud that he stood up to a bully, which is what she was doing, using the pressure of cameras and an audience to make him dance like a monkey and do what she told him.

How is this mean spirited? She was an idiot, and didn't use the proper privacy settings. She won't make that mistake again.
It's a learning experience about the internet. With the rise of Facebook, there's a large majority of younger people who are far too naive about this. This could easily have been a prank where a bunch of people just showed up WITHOUT replying to the invite. I don't think this was malicious in any way, just educating an individual and getting some lulz out of it.

Well, we're discussing trolling! So wouldn't rules 1 and 2 apply when discussing trolling, even after the fact?

That's how I always understood it anyways. So the way I understood it, I was still breaking Rules 1 & 2. Though, I guess it wouldn't count when everyone's blaming 4chan and Anon anyways. Makes sense. Okay, I newfagged.

Nah, man. It means never mention /b/ while trollin', even if it's inconsequential. If you get somebody thinking about /b/, they think about trollin', and then they're onto you.

And people wonder why i dont use Facebook.

I doubt Anon is behind it. Hacking Facebook is probably last on the collectives list of things to do.
Yeah, they're too busy saving the world from pedophiles and censorship boards, right?

The problem with news media, right here folks.

I don't really see how this is a mean spirited prank. Clicking a button on facebook is not the equivalent of showing up at someone's house (especially since that someone is in fucking Australia, so unless you actually live in Australia, you probably aren't going to actually go there).

WTF! that is being blown way out of proportion. A guy is being charged by the police? They are blaiming it on "notorious" hacking groups? Patrols outside her house? WHAT THE FUCK! It's a fucking joke, and noone has done anything wrong, man up for fuck sake.
