It was ok.

I've had better years, but also worse ones. None of the 2017 games I've played really wowed me, but neither did I run into any I ended up really disliking. Overall, I'd rank it somewhere around the middle to lower middle.

2017 gave us Pyre and The Sexy Brutale

Hell yes it was one of the best gaming years ever if you like bright, colourful games full of new, weird ideas, great musical scores and no multiplayer. Have fun with your loot crates, ill just amuse myself in my time-travel-casino-murder-mansion.

What makes this year so polarizing is that Nintendo actually crushed it this year. The rest of the gaming world was pretty much the same as it's always been, some great games and some duds

But Nintendo? The Switch is a beautiful console, they made arguably the best Zelda game and arguably the best Mario game for it, there are a bunch of other grear games out for it, plus the dang thing is portable

Of course if you're not into any of that then this year probably felt like more of the same (also you are a soulless cretin)

And am glad to see this website finally banned your pretentious, joyless, autistic ass from here as well 😘😘😘
I seriously doubt Ezekiel cares as much as you obviously do about this meaningless years-old spat, so he's not going to read it.

Do something else.

I feel like a lot of you hating on 2017 are just doing it out of spite, or just to hate it because you think hating things is cool.

2017 WAS a standout year in gaming and was far and away a year of better game releases than any year since and the previous 5 years. So if you consider that 2017 was the best year in gaming between 2012-2019, then clearly it has to qualify as a stand out year.

Don't get me wrong, every year has at least 1 or 2 standout releases. But few years have so many great games released in the same 365 period as did 2017. You might personally like some of those games, like I hated Zelda, but you have to admit that they were good games. Zelda is a good game, I fucking hate it, but i wont sit here and say that it isn't a good game because that's just wrong.

If you look at the metacritic rating for all the big releases in 2017, you'll see an average far higher than the big releases in any surrounding year.

2017 brought us Zelda and Mario both of which scored 95+ in metacritic rating.
2018 brought us Fallout 76
2019 brought us Anthem

I mean just look at the differences. 2017 was a standout gaming year, whether you personally enjoyed the releases or not.

The people you?re responding to never played Fallout 76 OR Anthem; they have no idea what you?re talking about. Scroll up a bit; until yesterday?s shitty personal attack on a long-gone member, the last post in this thread was in January of 2018.

Fair enough I totally, didn't even notice the dates. I apologize. I just read the first page and didn't notice how old the thread was. My bad.
