2K Commissions 350-Hour Painting of Duke Nukem

2K Games has commissioned the most involved piece of Duke Nukem art ever created.

2K Games and Gearbox want Duke Nukem fans to know that Duke Nukem Forever [http://www.amazon.com/Duke-Nukem-Forever-Pc/dp/B002I0JAJ2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1303858120&sr=8-3] will finally be released soon through any means possible. This is clearly evident through an oil painting of Duke Nukem that 2K commissioned which literally took hundreds of hours to make.

Presented here is a portrait called Untitled: I'm So Awesome, I Don't Even Need To Name It, which 2K says was painted by artist Frank Frid in 350 hours. Reportedly, it was created in a single sitting. It all sounds fishy to me, but I have no reason not to believe these facts.

The painting is an an oil-on-board portrait with dimensions of 35" x 23". It'll first be unveiled to the public before being moved to a more permanent exhibition space. 2K is also creating 200 limited-edition prints of the painting that will be sold for charity.

2K adds that it commissioned the painting to celebrate the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton to take place in the UK on April 29. It hopes the "royal awesomeness" of Duke will upstage the wedding. Duke himself says: "I'm clearly the Royal story everyone should be talking about this week." I'm not totally getting the connection here, but then, I guess that's Duke Nukem for you. Always trying to show everyone else up.

Duke Nukem Forever will be released for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on June 14 in North America, and on June 10 in other regions.

I dont think this would make a good impression on the Brits, but Duke is about offending people, so i can let it slide.

Also, still loving those release dates.

We get it, we get it. It's coming out at last. I just hope this game isn't as garbage as it seems. I don't mind tongue-in-cheek, I don't mind raunchy, but I really mind waiting for a game for years only to have it underwhelm me into a coma.

They've got their work cut out for them ,though I think the DNF title is more of a hindrance than anything else. Sort of leaves a foul taste in my mouth.

Jeez this game isn't even out and I already am sick of hearing about it...can't wait for Fox News to go to town...we'll NEVER hear the end of this game no matter how much of a satire it is.

We get it, the game is coming out and Duke is more of an over the top character as ever...now can we please get back to the idea of innovation?

Oh wait...innovation...shooter...my bad. Carry on.

I wonder how much they paid the artist for 350 hours of painting, which is essentially over two months of full-time work.

Am I supposed to interpret "single sitting" to mean that the poor bastard painting that thing didn't sleep for... *does some quick math* more than two solid weeks?

And if so, am I supposed to believe it? 'CAUSE I DON'T.

Anyway, it's gorgeous. And silly. And there are no tits. Why aren't there tits?

Why does everything like this have to tie in with the royal family, god it doesn't effect us in any way. Unless its a couple of hundred years ago.

Duke Nukem and Charity don't seem to go together, but whatever. Selling it for a good cause is cool with me (despite how the name "Duke Nukem" and the phrase"Good Cause" clash)
Fun painting anyways, but I doubt it was completed in one sitting.

Gearbox is going to get some good press if this game is as good as we hope it is.

Though after 12-14 years, I think fans will be happy regardless of how bland it could be, but I think honestly, that Gearbox wouldn't release the game if it wasn't something they thought would be good.

You milk that you have Duke 2K, you milk the FUCK out of it, just get the game in my hands June 14th or else... (note:I have never played a Duke Nukem game in my life)
