33?

I think I've gained the traits and attributes that will account for a third of my level 100.

Thats where I hope I am, anyway. I'd hate to be nearing my full potential.

Sounds more like Nihilism than Zen.

A very thought provoking idea indeed and nicely written. It's certainly food for thought and while I'll scribble down here that I'm about a level 40 I've found those dings less readily available since I went dual spec and changed my professions. The skills I had before are stil useful but until I learn new ones I got a bit of catching up to do.

Those later levels look like they could be pretty damn hard to achieve, I honestly don't think I've met a level 99 yet - although I've had some good l90 advice it's inconsistent.

I have to say this is one of the few articles that will stick with me and keep me thinking. Also, you have found probably the coolest monk ever who has at least +6 in being awesome. I totally agree with him that most leveling up occurs when you confront your inner demons, but accomplishments in real life also can't be ignored. I'm probably around a level 18, as I am halfway done with my college education, managed to hold on to my workstudy job, and have been delving more into myself and dealing with my issues. And managed to socialize and keep friends. My class is currently "otaku liberal artist" (the result of being a literature major, history and art history minor, and involved heavily in anime society workings.) hoping to take the paragon of "otaku writer" (the otaku never dies).

yesyes the zen part is due to my ability to clear my mind and think of nothing.

I always feel like i'm waiting for the boss to appear. i feel like during sophomore year in high school, i entered a cheat code.

so i'm building stats in many different things now.

I've thought about this before.

The conclusion I came to was that I am lvl 0 and lvl 100.

And everywhere between, there come realizations and constant awakenings.

I am also every level inbetween.

level 20 Tosser.
if you don't know, a Tosser is someone who doesn't excell at anything in special, and hasn't got the stones to change something about it.
and level 20 because i'm quite good at it

I'd like to think myself of a different system. One of professions and skills than character defining levels. Sure, there are stats involved and you could put levels on my individual skill trees (each level opening up more and more side branches that intertwine with other skill trees)

But i'd venture a guess of around 23ish.

I rather enjoy reading about Zen practice every once in awhile myself. You would be surprised what monsters you may find. As for defeating them, well, that's often a matter of defeating a past self that may have been the you of 5 minutes ago. Lazy as I am, I fear my monsters, oft of the monkey-mind variety, are allowed to run amok too often.

I think that confronted with that question (what level are you) I would have to confess that I'm a bit of an alt-a-holic and I perpetually reroll. It seems I am not destined for truly high levels in any one proficiency, but I do rather enjoy learning about each individual proficiency I dabble in.

Perhaps that's not so bad. Perhaps, if you are learning how to better enjoy life, your master class level will progress much higher as a generalist than as a specialist. Many perspectives hold a potential for greater wisdom than just one.

(Granted, regarding your progress numerically is a mental trap of sorts, but I am playing along.)

My level is "awesome" because us programmers use cheatcodes and create the worlds, we're not bound by XP levels :-D

He said fighting personal monsters.

Well, I'd have to say I'm at level 20 then. Still got a couple personal beasts to slay, but I'm getting good at it.

*For showing the light to a wandering pilgrim, Miso, the monk, achieves lvl 37!*

EDIT: I'm probably abt lvl 26 or 27. Charisma score is decent, intelligence rank is also okay, but I need to start training to raise my strength score :p

Level hmm... 12 maybe

I wonder how many people know how to pronounce Tao?
Dow.

I personally consider myself a 32. I'm competent, but I honestly lack the experience necessary to see some more impressive areas of the world. It's pretty far, but still a long way to 85. This is, of course, something I hope to remedy.

For now, however, I have my mount.

My best guess is that I'm sitting in my late 20's, probably 27. Been through University (Reasonably skilled but never top of my class) and had a few different jobs; Have loved and lost and loved again; Seen foreign lands and Gems of beauty in my own country; Climbed mountains and sunk to the bottom of lakes (lost a shoe that day); even have a good supporting group of party members to help with the more difficult challenges.

My 'character' has come far, but isn't even in the mid levels yet, got a lot to see and do before I can really call myself 'Elite'

Really well written. I came to the site today just looking for something fun to read, and found something that really made me think. Well done Sir.

As for level, well seeing I'm out of college with two years of work experience, and on the cusp of the next big thing (graduate school/long term relationship), and that H.S. brings you to around level 10, I don't know around level 25 I'd say.
