Modern Warfare 3 Looks Purty

Shooter fans rejoice, MW3 is out today and it looks shiny.

With today's economy and the glut of great videogame titles coming out this month, MW3 probably won't sell as well as its predecessors. (If it does break records, I guess I'll have to eat my M-16.) That doesn't mean the latest military shooter from Activision isn't like gun manna from the gods for a certain cross-section of gamers. To tide you over until you read our review, or until you get home from work with the game in hand, take a gander at these sweet-looking shots of in-game play that Activision released for just such a purpose. Gun fiends, start salivating.

The behemoth publisher pulled out all of the stops for MW3's release by holding midnight sales events last night at over 13,000 retailers all over the world. "This watershed launch extends the legacy of the franchise like no other previous release," said Eric Hirshberg from Activision. "Combining the narrative punch and gameplay innovations of the next chapter in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series with the unique services of Call of Duty Elite will bring Call of Duty gamers together in a cohesive, fan-focused environment like no other."

I'm interested as to how the service of Elite will impact the multiplayer game. Everything I've heard about it hasn't really excited me - it sounds like similar programs such as Rockstar's Social Club - but Elite could work really well in uniting the COD crowd into a single army. Forget the KISS Army, now you can join COD for life!

While I'm not really a graphics whore those textures actually look pretty bad. Like, the floor textures, or the building in the second picture.
Still, I'll probably get it once it goes down in price is about 30 years.

Day 1 finished, level 41 reached and a pretty average kdr of 1.5 achieved. Am I enjoying the game? Yes. Am I ever going to touch the single player? No. I am so annoyed that Skyrim is coming out now as well, I don't have enough time to play both, which means I am hitting lvl 80 before Skyrim's release and then getting back into it a few weeks after Skyrim.

Graphics are pretty much identical to MW2, you will have to look hard to find a difference. But then the game pretty much is MW2, which I like. You are kidding yourself if you think its a wholly new game.

If you turn out to be wrong I imagine that will be a very unpleasant experience for you. Unless your M-16 is made out of cake.

After playing the Multiplayer for several hours, I can say MW3 is a success on that front. Not a whole lot different from MW2, and it doesn't exactly look staggering, but it's fun and that's what matters.

Looking forward to giving the Campaign a go.

Not going down in price until the next game is out, except for a random steam sale next summer, check.

It appears to be CoD with more assorted holes in walls and what appears to be more aircraft lodged in walls...


Is pic 7 played on the lowest high res possible...it looks gritty...


Also noticed all the pictures are from MP...nothing cool like a SP pic...

OT: Tried it for a bit. Incredibly entertaining, and the multiplayer killstreak overhaul with the pointstreak thingy was better than I thought it would be. And I haven't played the campaign much but I'm looking forward to it, can't wait to see how the story continues.

It does not look good at all. If you stop in-game for just a minute and take a look you can really see how awful the textures are. Even if characters are acceptable stuff like particles and environments look really atrocious.
