Fan Demand Could Produce Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy Pack

Square Enix isn't averse to collecting all three FFXIII games if fans really want it.

Once the action-oriented all three games for a reduced price [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/119461-Lightning-Returns-in-a-Shorter-More-Action-Oriented-Final-Fantasy]. Will FFXIII get one? According to Square Enix, the answer is a resounding "maybe," if fans really, really want it.

First things first: If Final Fantasy XIII does get the trilogy treatment, it won't be until well after the release of its final installment. "We are currently devoting all of our efforts to Lightning Returns," says Motomu Toriyama, the game's director. "Although we would certainly like to give it some consideration - if there were a big enough demand from the fans." Toriyama did not specify exactly how Square Enix would catalog fan demand, although the standard channels would probably apply: online forums, e-mail, petitions, social media, carrier pigeon, or however else folks choose to get in touch with game developers.

The first obvious question here is, "Who needs a Final Fantasy XIII trilogy pack?" The drop-off of people who bought the first game to the second was steep [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/114906-Final-Fantasy-XIII-2-Debuts-to-Lackluster-Sales], and many hardcore series fans are inclined to buy each game at the time of release. Of course, if Toriyama really wants to gauge fan interest in such a project, he might just let a hint drop into the games journalism sphere and watch the reaction. Just saying.

Fans would already have the first two games. Why would they ask for an opportunity to buy them again?

It's for the people that never played the other FFs before and don't have a last gen console/PC good enough to emulate last gen consoles.

I wouldn't mind getting it if it had extra stuff in it like an artbook or OST.

They'll probably release the trilogy pack only in Japan though, they're obssessed with Lightning.

Side note: They really should make a plushie of Mog from 13-2. I would be on that shit in an instant.

Is there a working 360/PS3 emulator? And are we already referring to them as "Last-gen"?

I think they'd prefer to have Final Fantasy Versus.
Well thank fuck for that, i was beginning to think i'd just imagined Versus, hearing someone else mention it is quite a relief. Fuck yes, i want Versus, not Lightning Returns and certainly not a trilogy release of games, two of which i own, one of which i adore and the other i really, really would rather not have bought.

I guess its easier for Squeenix to churn out more shitty sequels than working on a real game.

Even though I actually enjoyed XIII-2 and to a lesser extent XIII I highly doubt there is any demand for a trilogy pack of these, void the hate most people who want the game will have bought the game.

OT: I wasn't a fan of the FF13, while the mythology, music and visuals were excellent, I thought the battle system, narrative and characters (except for Sazh, he was brilliant) were rather boring. The crystarium and weapon crafting systems were terrible and characters I was supposed to care about, I didn't (like Yaag Rosch)

I loved FF13-2 to bits, I didn't think I would, I loved Serah and Noel as a duo and there was no romance between them, which was a breath of fresh air (after the shit Snow went through to get her back, I would be pissed if they were made a couple) The story was less obnoxious because it stuck to Serah and Noel and only them (with some very small exceptions) The combat was faster, I loved the monster taming, the cystarium was revamped to not suck, no more pointless weapon crafting, it improved nearly all my prior problems (although there was not enough Sazh and his DLC was only 2 casino games)

I am excited for Lightning Returns, but why have Lightning as the only playable character, she was honestly a very boring character (badass, but boring)

Somewhat related, am I the only one who was always bothered by how Lightnings hair NEVER moved from her shoulder even when falling, doing flips and fighting?
Finally, someone else who sees Final Fantasy XIII-2 the same way I do. A vast improvement over the first game. As for Lightning's hair, that's the only thing that bothers you? The clothing and jewelry that all Final Fantasy characters wear has always bothered me because of that reason--especially necklaces. These people are wearing huge necklaces, or at least necklaces with long cords, and doing flips and spins and the thing never moves! I wear a very short necklace, almost a choker, and I have to tuck it inside my shirt just when I run otherwise it smacks me in the face. A necklace like Squalls? Forget doing anything other than walking.

The only possible way I would buy a trilogy would be if it came with some sweet, sweet extras. Like major extras, not just costumes or in-game stuff. I've bought the other two XIII games on release, and I plan on buying Lightning Returns on release too, so there's no reason for me to pick up a trilogy edition.

I just want them to get done with Versus so they can fully commit to Kingdom Hearts 3. Something tells me that would sell more anyways.

I would probably buy it, if it were reasonably cheap (say, fifty bucks or less -- preferably less, since the likelihood that I buy it goes up as price goes down) and for a system that I already have, which is basically the PC right now but could be different in the future.

Basically, if it were the equivalent of the old "Greatest Hits" collection for the PSX, I'd be inclined to pick up a copy.

I meant FF games that are on the PS2, PSX and SNES. As much as I love 13 and 13-2 there's no denying that the "Golden Age" FF games are infinitely better.

Kinda OT: Are people whining about Versus and KH3 already? Really?

I think fans would like it more if they never have to see Lightning again.

Seriously Square Enix just going to have to accept it no one likes Lightning or FFXIII that much even after 3 main games and other spin offs. Perhaps maybe it's time for FFXV or Versus XII if you've still got it locked up in the 4th level basement of HQ?

It's probably going to come out in a year or so afterwards anyway. They'll probably toss in a mini-artbook + soundtrack, plus whatever DLCs the games had and title it the FF13 Trilogy box set or something like that.
