Fans Choose Subtitle for Command & Conquer 4

EA Los Angeles decided that the best folks for the job of subtitling Command & Conquer 4 were the fans, and the fans have decided that the best subtitle for the upcoming RTS is Tiberian Twilight.

Design by (fan) committee might not work for some things, but when it comes to asking gamers to pick the names for their favorite games, you can usually expect a decent result. Atlus fans were smart enough to pick Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93211-Atlus-Newest-Game-Is-Kenka-Bancho-Badass-Rumble] from a poll, and now Command & Conquer fans have picked a not too horrible name for their most anticipated game.

Command & Conquer 4 is no more. From henceforth it shall be known as Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight. That's the decision of the more than 15,000 fans who submitted their ideas for possible titles - Tiberian Twilight, EA says, was far and away the best and most popular one.

"Our sophisticated fans are a tremendous community with a great love for the series. We really wanted to involve them in Command & Conquer 4 - what better way than to have them create the title?" said Mike Glosecki of EA Los Angeles. "We were blown away by all the creative names they came up with but the most popular selection, Tiberian Twilight, seemed the best fit, embodying that the saga is coming to a powerful and epic conclusion."

It's not a bad name. The alliteration should tickle the fancy of English majors and the mention of the word "twilight" should send all the Twilight fanboys and fangirls into a tizzy. Maybe that's why EA was okay with this decision. They're hoping that Twilight addicts will see this game in a store and think "OMG A TWILIGHT GAME EDWARD CULLEN <3!!" and just buy it without even looking at what it really is. Okay, maybe not. But it could happen.

*laughs* I had to admit that I was wondering if the word *sparkles* would be in there.

Seeing Edward mindcrushed by Yuri would make my day though.

I'd like to dispel all the pre-emptive bitching about the subtitle right now. Tiberian Twilight was the original name for the third game in the series back when it was still at Westwood (and still only a trilogy). So it stands to reason that many longtime fans of the series would pick that as the subtitle for what is hopefully the final game in the series.

In effect, anybody who says it doesn't sound like a subtitle you should apply to a C&C game is not a fan. Just because some stupid hack writer picked "Twilight" to be the title of her stupid fantasy-fufillment book does not make it less worthy of something for C&C.

Well, remember what the other games were.. Command and Conquor, Tiberium Dawn. Command and Conquor, Tiberian Sun.

The last game will probably be Tiberian Night.

True story, I actually did send it in but I figured it wasn't going to win because they were judging on originality.

15,000 people later and they chose it anyway. I think the moral is "the dumber it seems in your head, the better of an idea it actually is"

I could've put money on this. I should've put money on this. I'd have more money.

I would've preferred Tiberium Dusk, but the 'tweens have spoken.

The contributors are now taking potshots at the Twilight fanbase? Wow, you're really taking Tinsel-town to ask with that one. Held up a mirror to those phonies, that's for sure.

Christ, that was what? A year ago? Jesus, let it go...

Hell, at LEAST Tiberian Evening would've been better, but i remember back when the word "Twilight" was cool, instead of having it relate to butthole pussy vampires.

Where I work, there are several women who are enormous Twilight fans. This scenario is entirely plausible.

Opening Scene. Kane shoots Edward in the back.

Or this.

That should be in part 2. Hell with it, part 1.
That should be on the cover of the next book.
