You sir, disgust me, you may not like that, but i don't understand how you can say that.
I don't say that often.
Hey whatever floats your boat. But killers being killed does not move me.
You know i don't have time to reply to all of these, but just think about there families, and the one civilian on board as well.
The one civilian on board probably chose to be there and cooperate with the soldiers making him guilty of their crimes. The war is wrong and if all European and American soldiers would just say: 'Fuck this, I'm not killing anymore people for no reason at all' than the war would be over.

it is still sad of course but if i let a thing as this get to me than it would be impossible to cope with the fact that I'm replying to a forum right now on my expensive pc while a lot of people could really use the money I'm using to pay for my internet connection. How do you still survive if you are stricken with grief even at a minor tragedy as this?

It is tragic but People have to realize Afganestan is a very personal war, because their are not high casualties and its fighting against terrorists rather then another country you will see the face and name and story of every person who died rather than just seeing a list published in the paper every so often its just the way war is evolving.

That's damn wrong that all of that expensive flying hardware can be shot down by one old soviet missile.

What about Iraq then?

Tragic, but not unexpected. We killed one of their senior leaders and we celebrated it... now the younger leaders will be making reprisals... mostly to make a name for themselves.
...and make no mistake, while the main body of their troops are basically untrained, their best are every bit as skilled as our best... if not so well-equipped.

...similar story, but the local insurgency isn't quite as well organized... and they generally have more non-combatants to hide behind.
Local civilians are the ones who take the worst losses in both wars, though.

This story made me wonder why we are using helicopters. They are probably the single most easily destroyed thing imaginable! You can touch anything on any side, and it will crash and explode. You can throw a rock at it and if the rock hits the majority of the helicopter it will explode. Can't we just paratroop from planes? Also, why is this on this website...

Over 2 soldiers!

Jesus, that's almost a quarter of all Canadian Losses in the conflict... in one attack.

You know, despite not wanting any more of my own countrymen to die, I sure as hell don't want any other country's men dying either.
Take this into account, if my math is correct 20 times as many civilians have died in iraq and afghanistan then U.S. soldiers.

These comments are seriously the most disrespectful things I've read in quite a while. I'm as anti-war as anyone, but what is being said here is simply wrong and brings to mind the WBC.

This is a pretty terrible tragedy... let's just hope we get out there soon.

It really shows that we need to fix the design or something... in the sidebar of that website, it has the "worst moments" and almost all of them involve helicopters... helicopters can take off and land vertically without a runway and carry a lot of people, but still, when they are as fragile as they are, something needs to change.

They don't know it was an RPG as of my writing this, they just said it was assumed to have been and all the news stations reported it as fact. For all we know it could have been a high velocity shoe.

*ahem*
in North America, 2,000,000=two million.
in Europe, 2.000.000=two million.

getting used to 1,95? meaning one euro ninety-five cents took a little while when I was stationed over there, but...

First thing that came to mind was "Damn. That must have been a big helicopter!"

Anyway, I hope the families that have lost can find great peace in their time of mourning. And while they shouldn't be dead or there in the first place, I hope that they can think of their deceased relatives as heroes to their last moments.

I'm really disgusted by this. Not by the story itself, that is quite tragic. I'm disgusted by the people commenting. Saying "It's war" and "They're soldiers they deserve it" is probably some of the most disrespectful thing you can say. When someone you know dies don't come crying to us.

This wouldn't have happened if they hadn't been there in the first place.

The US puts it's nose in everyone's business and then cries foul when they get punched in the face.
Yeah, America should be ashamed of itself for going after the people who murdered thousands of civilians...

I don't feel any more sympathy for the US troopers than I feel for the Talibans when death occur, as I see it both sides got there by their own will, so they could have killed themselves and I wouldn't care anymore. Actually if 30 people killed themselves at the same time that would be interesting news, people who went to war by their own will and dies don't interest me one bit. The only thing sad about it is that the US troops seem to believe they are the star in their own personal war movie.

I don't believe they've figured if it was enemy action or an accident yet. Either way though, over 20s Special Operations troops and a chopper crew, not a good day for socom.
