360 just fried....

the RRoD is a genetic disease.

If your system has the genes for it, it's probably going to happen, and there's not TOO much in the way of preventatives that you can do to stop an RRoD from occuring. Keep its vents clear and hope for the best.

No, the Hard Drive stays with you unless noted by the support agent.

whew.....okay for a while i was scared there. Now it doesnt seem so scary suddenly. + if mine dies in the next 3 months when Microsoft give out their new chips i will get an updated version. Someone said something about refreshing the warranty...is that true? Im a new 360 owner.

I just got mine back. It was out of 1-year warranty when I sent it in for RROD (covered by 3-year warranty). It now shows as "under warranty" on my status on xbox's support site.

When I sent it in, I was hoping to get a falcon chipset, or even the updated original chipset, but I think I got a refurbished original one. I haven't looked at it closely enough, but the DVD is a LOT quieter now

I got mine a week or so ago, sent it off the Monday, it came back fixed on the Friday for free. Not too shabby in my opinion, especially seeing as it went from the UK to Germany and back.

I 7 people who have had a drive fail so by your logic I know every single person who its happened to, its currently estimated at around .1%, like I said not a huge problem like the 360 but still significant.

On the other had I only know 1 person whos had a RROD, so maybe Im just lucky.

It's so funny how much like lemmings some of the xbots are, I also have heard stories of people on the 3rd and 4th xboxes.

Basically the attitude I've seen is "LOL I'm on my 3rd, hope it doesn't breaak LOL. Oh gee gosh it did break again! I am so happy, here I go again, another week without gaming! I pay $50 dollars a year for xbox live and I can't even use my xbox for a week, gee har har har lol, oh well, at least the ps3 sucks"
