I 7 people who have had a drive fail so by your logic I know every single person who its happened to, its currently estimated at around .1%, like I said not a huge problem like the 360 but still significant.

On the other had I only know 1 person whos had a RROD, so maybe Im just lucky.

Mine died last month after a 2 year faultless run. No RRoD, I got the black screen of death. Something to do with the video out put as I still had sound. Apparently Im not the first person to have it happen. They fix the RRoD and something else comes up.

Bought an arcade and put my old HD on it. A little more expensive than posting it off to microsoft but I had my console working the next day.

Consoles dont last forever but I hoped for more than 2 years. Well see how long this one lasts.

It's so funny how much like lemmings some of the xbots are, I also have heard stories of people on the 3rd and 4th xboxes.

Funny thing is, most of us don't mind. Just a little inconvenience, and i'd still take this over buying a PS3 instead. I've had 3 RRODs on 2 consoles and it's still worth it. And i'm a PC gamer, could care less about the console wars. To be honest if SONY didn't drop the PS2 backwards compatiblity from their console i'd probably have bought one of those too.

Normally the Lawyer in me always says dont ever get a extended warranty, but since i have replaced my 360 three times since I first purchased in and haven't paid more than 50 bucks. I say that best buys replacement plan in this instance more than adequately paid for itself.

Two weeks before it expires again hopefully it will shit itself so I can continue the trend.

No, but mine did have 1 flashing red light last year. GPU fried. I keep my gaming area of the house well ventilated so there was no blaming that one me, yet it still cost me $100 to fix it. I'm not often an advocate of the phrase "the customer is always right" because they're usually not... but in this case, it's a glaring exception.

All of these system failures could have been avoided if Microsoft had designed the console properly in the first place.

They must be doing something right though to have such a ridiculous share of the market though.

Or maybe they WANT you to have RROD. So you waste more money on them.

Well, I only had to pay because it was out of warranty. Such is the nature of purchasing pre-owned hardware. *sigh*

Because I choose to ignore what share the PS3 has until they can release some exclusive titles I just may give a shat about. I need more than one reason (MGS4) to shell out $500-600 for it. I enforce the Ostrich Syndrome when it comes to things that don't interest me. If I'm not seeing it, it's not happening.

No, you never send in your harddrive or any other peripherals.

I've had mine fry twice and after the second time, I bought a PS3. Now I buy all multiplatform games only for the PS3 and use the Xbox 360 only for exclusives and for streaming movies from my PC.

Well, when you're one of those older gamers that likes to think games used to be a lot better in the old days, you get that way. Yeah I'm one of those,I openly admit it.
