God of War III "Not the End of God of War"

Worried that this year's finale to the God of War trilogy means the end of Kratos' Roaring Rampage of Revenge [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RoaringRampageOfRevenge]? You may be worrying over nothing.

[viddler=4be5b241]

In the above video, John Hight - Director of Product Development at Sony Santa Monica, makers of God of War - talks with talking about the lighting [http://gamervision.com/users/sarah/articles/interview_god_of_war_iii_director_of_product_development_john_hig], but I digress.

But amongst all of the information about how the studio has grown along with the series and how Kratos is totally going to make that pansy-ass Zeus his *****, there's a little tidbit there at the end that caught my eye:

"This is not the end of God of War," said Hight. "This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we're going to continue to do God of War games. We're going to be very careful about what we do - we're the keepers of the franchise, and we don't want to see it ruined or polluted."

So, there's going to be more GoW (a sequel to a successful franchise? Shocking!), but it won't be part of the official trilogy. What then? More PSP games? A sequel that surprisingly stars a young, androgynous rookie Spartan as he infiltrates the Big Shellopolis? Kratos Team Racing?

Your guess is as good as mine.

And here I was hoping GoW would be able to rest in piece after this.

I was wrong...

god i hope they are done with PSP games, but any way, WOHOO, i really love god of war, its one of the only beat em ups i enjoy, no witches or 9 levels of hell can compare to it.

edit: the more i think about the more i love the idea of kratos team racing, brutal combat mixed with cute go-karts seems like something just crazy enough to work, draggin those in front of you back with a knife in their back attached to some chains while going "beep beep" just appeals to me.

I wander if there will ever be an uber-successful trilogy franchise that actually stays as a trilogy...

Probably not.

In the lastest news: Mass Effect 3 will not be the last Mass Effect game. *ghasp* shock! horror!

Kratos is Greek, Mars is Roman. Nerd alert!
Anyway, if this is the end of the trilogy, I wonder what the next step will be. God of War Viking? Replace Kratos with a burly, bearded Norseman and have him hunt down Tyr?

No surprise. This just in now from one of our field reporters...

"Sony says cash cow III, not the final cash cow, more money wanted."

Provided they make future GoW games good (as they have been so far) I'd be quite happy.

I'm glad they're wanting to be careful with it, though I wouldn't mind a mythology change. Egyptian, Norse, Slavic, Chinese, Japanese, even Indian (Brahma Creates, Vishnu Preserves, Shiva Destroys, anyone?). No one says that God of War has to focus around Kratos, after all. There's plenty of pantheons to slaughter yet, each with their own God of War

What would be funny if if they did the next trilogy focusing on the Roman pantheon.
