What on Earth is going on? There's been so much damn Duke news that my head is spinning...

Guess I'll have to wait till' the dust has settled to see the Duke's fate.
Essentially, DNF is gone. 3D Realms however, is still here. That's about it.

I mean, really? I've been waiting forever for that game! Even if it were crap, I wanted to play it once...

So...What else is there to 3D Realms?

Mind if I join you? But honestly, without DNF, what exactly are they doing? It's not like they actually make games or anything....

3D Realms also revealed its take on the last months of Duke Nukem Forever's years-long development. According to 3DR, the studio began negotiations sometime late last year with Take-Two for more funding to finish DNF. Around this time, the studio was "hitting mutually agreed milestones" despite the lack of an established agreement. Allegedly after "months of negotiations," Take-Two suddenly changed the terms of the proposed agreement to a point where 3DR couldn't afford to sign on.
This makes it sound like Duke was pretty close to a release; if that was the case, why the hell didn't they post any footage?
Like this??

Maybe now that the they fired that development team someone who can actually finish games will be responsible for Duke.

So as a corporate entity and development studio they still exist, even though they fired the DNF team. Which was the only game they were actually working on, the other Duke spinoffs were being done by Take Two. And considering Take-Two owns the publishing rights to DNF, what exactly are they going to do now? I would assume most of the game assets, as DNF stands now, belong to Take Two, and I highly doubt anyone else is going to sink 20 million into a followup or bailing them out of financial ruin. 3DRealms is effectively dead, I can't see how they'd recover from a blow such as this, Take Two might hand what's left off to another developer to finish up DNF, but I see 3DRealms relegated to making second hand iphone apps.

I have to ask, what do they have to look forward to? Nobody is going to buy anything else they might make since they just shrugged off Duke Nukem. They gonna do a Commander Keen game? Whoopee doo. If Take Two has a stone to stand on, they are going to clean out 3DR in the lawsuit. Think I am done dealing with this nonsense.

As much as I want a Duke Nukem game, I hope everyone at 3D Realms knows how retarded they have been for the past 12 years. They deserved to have their entire dev rights stripped of any game they have and given to a company that actually will release them.

I see it like this, at least when a crappy game is released, it still has a possibility to generate sales and make money. When a game isn't released, no matter how perfect it might be, it won't gross cent one.

Hu...What a sad ending to a very long joke.

Maybe Duke Nukem will be picked up by someone who knows what they're doing. Maybe not. I don't know and I'm not sure I care anymore.
Perhaps Infinity Ward could make it. They know their way around a shooter, and I heard they wanted a sci-fi game.
Screw that. Give it to Valve.

Just because Valve is run by fatty man Gabe Newell, who ate the sauce code to Half-Life 2 back in 2003, much like fatty man George Broussard, I can't see why they should get the rights to it. Valve doesn't really have a sense of humour. I'd say give it to Monolith, they made Blood and Blood 2, I think they'd be more than capable of finishing it off. As long as they don't throw scary little girls into it. The scary hobos might work though.

Wait!...make sure you use a desert eagle handgun, then they would know why you are pissed off.

I just wanted a Duke game, I don't care how shitty it would have been. One playthrough would have kept me happy for a while...

3D Realms- somehow defying the free market for years.

As much as I want them to survive, either put out or go home guys. Start releasing games again.
3D Realms; proving economy reality can be shut out by closing your eyes and going 'LA LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!' loud enough.
