Star of Percy Jackson In Talks to Play Spiderman

Logan Lerman, the star of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief [http://www.amazon.com/Percy-Jackson-Olympians-Lightning-Thief/dp/B003HARV3Y/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1280160447&sr=1-1], said that he's in talks to play the title role in the Spiderman reboot.

Even though his biggest starring role has yet to be seen by audiences (Percy comes out next week), the 18-year-old Lerman said that he is being considered by Sony to play Peter Parker. The young actor has actually been in a lot, including the TV show Jack and Bobby and bit parts in younger man [http://www.amazon.com/3-Yuma-Widescreen-Russell-Crowe/dp/B000XR9L50/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1280160477&sr=1-1] than in Raimi's films seems to point to Lerman being a front-runner for the role.

"There have been a few discussions, it's definitely something I'm looking into," Lerman said.

"It's one of my favorite characters ever and I'm a huge fan of the series," he said. "I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it."

Lerman explained that he believes the interest in him playing Pater Parker to be mutual, but wouldn't admit to which side contacted the other first.

"It's just, you know, conversations are starting. It's a long process with the studio and the producers and everything. But it's definitely a project that I'm really interested in, of course," he said. "I'd love to focus on the human element a little bit more. It'd be such a fun experience."

The young actor appears to have covered all of his bases with this interview. He's a fan of the character, he's not assuming that the role is his but he's publicly stating his interest. If nothing else, he has learned how to play the game. I'm sure he'd be great as a Spiderman.

Now, if only Sony can convince audiences that they need to pay 15 bucks for a movie they just saw a few years ago by a far more skilled director.

Oooh, I know, let's make 3D!

I think everyone is being a little too cynical about the whole Spidey Reboot thing.
I don't like it either, guys, but what if it turns out good?

They're making a Percy Jackson movie? Since when? Why have I not heard of this? The books are actually pretty good... I have to see this!

The Lightning Thief could be a good film if it wasn't about an emo kid. Facebook group?

It could but I doubt it. Taking it in the teenage angst direction seems like a move in the twilight direction, trying to get young girls to pay up. I doubt I'll see it unless it gets glowing reviews from everyone.

The guy seems like a horrible actor just by the previews of that "olympians" movie.

RIP Spiderman movies.

Ok Rant/ THIS IS NOT SPIDERMAN OR PETER PARKER, HE PROBABLY DOESN'T EVEN KNOW THE BASICS ABOUT SPIDERMAN FAN OF THE SERIES OR NOT, THIS MOVIE'S GONNA BLOW /rant.

But in all seriousness though I think Sony just wants to jump on the Twilight wagon.

They ran commercials in theaters for it a while back. I am... skeptical of the quality of the film thanks to them.

Beyond lame. They're going to turn Spiderman into an emo high school thing like Twilight. Bastards.

The up: I think he'd work in the direction they're taking the series.

The down: No one will go see it.
Millions of girls of all ages will go to see it to ogle Spiderman's massive package biceps. But that's not the down. Men will also go to watch it and, assumingly, enjoy it.

Now I am a fan of the Percy Jackson Series reading up to the fourth book. (Hoping to read the last one soon) However I didn't hear about the Spiderman Reboot plan though. I don't really know if this kid would be qualified to play him. I'm taking his acting off the previews and commercials ive seen of The Lightning Thief, and he looked ok. Right now I say he wouldn't. Maybe after a little more experience in main roles of movies he might be somewhat OK at bringing Spiderman to life, but I hardly believe he can play as him now.

The Percy Jackson movie I dont really find motivating for a fan like me. When books go to movie format they lose a little or a lot of quality found in the book. With the Lightning Thief...I just didn't feel like these were the characters I read about and loved from the first book. Id rather watch the whole movie, 3 years later when its uploaded on youtube by someone. Also, GROVER ISNT BLACK HOLLYWOOD!

Regarding the OP, that pic really isn't that far off.

I'm not sure what annoys me more, the fact that this little urchin might go on to ruin Spidey movies for years to come, or that my own thought process on this matter indicates that I'm apparently turning into a grumpy old man at the age of 23.

Didnt sony get the hint from Spidey 3? Or when Tobey MaGuire quit after you fired Sam Raimi? Oh wait i guess that doesn't matter as long as your making money turning everything cool into some deep dark "nobody understands me" emo-kid in high school story.
