Can't say much about the actor since I haven't seen him do much yet. My major concern is that his current film project is based on a book series and if it DOES work it's very likely that he will wind up being committed to doing a number of sequels.

I don't read much in the way of young adult/kids literature but I've heard that if any series are likely to be able to compete with Harry Potter in terms of success it will probably be that whole "Percy Jackson" series, or "Cirque Du Freak" both of which are
being given a shot and if either pays off, the actors involved are liable to be busy for a while, and probably permanantly typecast.

Kind of sad really, as there were young adult series like "The Seven Citadels" or "Last Legionary" that struck me at the time as being something that could have gone places with the right attention, but are now way too dated.

At any rate, all rambling aside, I think it's too soon for a Spider Man reboot, but I can see why they want to do one. The guy they picked at least looks like he could fill the role.

I'm not sure how I feel about the redo the movie till we get it right. First Hulk now Spiderman? It's a bit silly to do a remake so soon, even if they are changing a few pieces it's just not enough. Give it a few years guys like ...20 or more, seriously Spiderman 3 scarred me for life.

Whoever this Lerman (?) guy is, he can't possibly be as bad at the role as Tobey Maguire. So, I'm willing to give him one shot.

The Lightning Thief could be a good film if it wasn't about an emo kid. Facebook group?
its not about an emo kid. im a tiny bit excited for the movie as i am a huge fan of the books.
Whether or not he's an emo kid in the books, look at the guy playing the main role. That is an emo kid. I won't be able to watch this film (even though it looks pretty damn awesome) because all I'll be thinking is: this kid is probably listening to Funeral for a Friend AND thinking he's badass at the same time. And that is absolutely not allowed.

Luckily for me there's another film called 'Clash of the Titans' coming out, that looks 100% way more amazing in every way and will also satisfy my Greek mythology interest.

I actually think Robert Pattison could pull off the role.

This guy doesn't look the part. Pattison is a decent actor, regardless of his role in Twilight, and he actually resembles the Ultimate Spider-Man version of Parker.

Didnt sony get the hint from Spidey 3? Or when Tobey MaGuire quit after you fired Sam Raimi? Oh wait i guess that doesn't matter as long as your making money turning everything cool into some deep dark "nobody understands me" emo-kid in high school story.
They fired Sam Raimi? You don't fire Sam Raimi, Sam Raimi becomes too good for you.

High school is a great basis for deep, enthralling movies!

You're right, Totally Dude!

Ah well, at least he should be better than Pattinson... and if not at least he looks more human than Pattinson.

All the article states is that he is in talks Sony and Who ever else is involved. It does not mean that his is going to be Spiderman.

Those of use that have not fallen into the Twilight paranoia crowd knows that it is going to be some unknown playing the part. While this Percy Jackson kid certainly does fit the bill, there is also a chance that the part goes to some other unknown person too.

I do not see why this paranoia is valid. They are going to make Peter Parker emo and that is bad. Have any of you read the comics before 2001? Peter Parker is already emo. He has the hottest chick in the world, but he chooses to mourn Gwen Stacy from time to time. He still lets one tragedy define him, Uncle Ben. Here is the final nail in that emo coffin: one more day. He chose his aunt over his wife. There was a time in the 90's when his day consists of doing something and brooding.

As it stands right now, they could announce that Peter Parker and Eddie Brock are those kids that play Zach and Cody and I would not care. They could announce that peter is that youngest kid from Malcolm in the Middle this instant and it would not get my ire up. Nothing fazes me anymore about Hollywood.

About the only thing that would peak my interest is if they are going to make Spiderman an African American. I still would not care about the movie, but I would love to read the racist cries, then catch people on the immediate back peddling. That would amuse me to no end.

Is there some kind of mental condition that if the story is centred on a highschool you all assume that it is immediately going to become the next Twilight?

I love how people think Sam Raimi actually wanted to do another Spider-man film, did no-one notice the deliberate hatchet job he did of the third one? He sabotaged that film harder than the French resistance!

Did everyone forget the last Hulk film was a reboot? How do we know it won't be done in a similar style?

Ha! like when they cast Michael Clarke Duncan as the King-Pin? That was funny. Never mind the fact the man is a hugely talented actor and probably the only guy physically big enough to play the role.

Actually the more I think about it the more I like the idea of a black Peter Parker, would certainly add a new dimension to the character.

meh, to each his own. in the book, he is a dyslexic outcast at school (keyword: dyslexic), he is abused by his father, and he enjoys Green Day, so i can see why some people might guess that he should be emo in the movie, but he aint in the book.

I really like Lerman. Granted, he hasn't been in a whole lot but I like what he has done. And I like the Spiderman movies but...as much as I wish I could say I'd love to see the two merge, I don't. Toby Maguire (or however it's spelled) IS Spiderman and has been for the last three movies. I really don't think I can imagine Lerman in the same role.

However, I'd also heard rumors that they were looking into Robert Pattinson for the role of the next Spiderman. If there really is going to be a reboot, then I'm praying they'll choose Logan Lerman instead. Because Pattinson is...yeah...I don't need to explain.
