Sonic Fans Boycott Sega by Buying Sega Products

A group of Sonic the Hedgehog fans dismayed by the few seconds of Sonic 4 gameplay we've seen thus far has announced that they will be boycotting Sega by buying a different Sonic game. That'll work.

Let's file this one under "Gamers don't know what boycotts actually are anymore": A group of old-school Sonic fanboys are apparently very unhappy by the less-than-a-minute of unfinished, early-development footage we have seen of Sonic the Hedgehog 4: You Wish it had Pikachu in a Sombrero. Said group of fanboys has announced that until Sega makes Sonic 4 just how they want it, they will be boycotting the game.

That is, they will be boycotting the game and buying the original Sonic the Hedgehog instead.

[blockquote]Fans of the sonic series are like most sega fans, we want their old games brought back to the glory days when sega was pretty much the power in video games. Seeing the gameplay of sonic 4 has made many of us realize what we already knew, Sonic 4 will simply not be anywhere near as good as the original sonic games. Either way, We will decide to finally show sega what the fans truly want. A real sonic 4, as long as sonic 4 stays the way it is, we will not buy it, we will in fact buy sonic 1 on release in protest of sonic 4, till we end up with a re tool, or change, we want sonic in hd, not sonic RUSH HD. We will not buy a future sonic game, till we get a true successor to sonic 1/2 [sic] [Yes, that whole thing][/blockquote]

So, all 1118-at-this-moment signees have pledged to boycott Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 4 by instead buying Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog 1. They are taking their hard-earned money that would have otherwise gone into the coffers of talentless, greedy Sega, and giving it to, um, well...

...yeah, that'll really learn 'em good. Take that, Sega!

fanboy fail.

how was this Sonic RUSH HD and not Sonic HD? All we saw him do was run, turn into a ball and fly in the air.

Oh come on.
This new game is supposed to go back to its roots.
We haven't seen enough to even make a good assumption of how it will be.
And your going to give money back to the company?
WHAT IS THIS I DONT EVEN!?!

So...I'm confused.

What about that Sonic 4 video wasn't [i/]exactly[/i] like Sonic 1, 2 or 3?
People dislike the fact that...

IT'S NOT 16 BIT!

From the few minutes of gameplay we've seen, it looks like Sonic 4 has more in common with Sonic Advance than Rush. But even so, what legitimate Sonic fan wouldn't want to play Sonic Rush in HD?

Also, someone needs to tell them that Sega's only publishing the game; they're not actually the ones developing it. If they've really got an issue, they should be taking it up with Dimps.

I would definitely boycott it based on the 2 seconds of gameplay I've seen in the trailer, definitely.

I'd be curious to see breakdown of that 1183 people by demographic.

Specifically, how many are Japanese compared to Americans.

This might just be on a whole new level of stupid. It's like the dial on the stupid meter has gone up to 11. Wait, it's not supposed to go that high *BOOM*

The thing is that even if Sega did buckle and make Sonic 4 exactly as the fanboys wanted, then they would still find stuff to moan about, they want a perfect game but unfortunately for them it won't be perfect if they keep poking around for things to complain about.

Oh, us gamers and our nit-pickiness never ceases to amaze me.

Seriously, one slight detail wrong these days sparks boycott and whatever else. Um, you know, if you don't like the concept, how about, you know, not buying the game? I heard that helps. But a mass purchase of Sonic 1 will solve NOTHING.

Well, they're going to find that Sega likes their boycott. Let's see them respond to that.
