This same exact thing happened way back in '06 [http://encyclopediadramatica.com/Jake_Brahm], prompting 4chan to include that tiny red warning label on the top of their "Random" board.

He probably was joking about the shooting, but it sounds like he wasn't exactly a model citizen considering they found child porn on his computer, hope he gets a long time in prison for that rather than his shooting claims, I'm personally cheering because another potential child molestor is safely behind bars!

Not so impressed by 4chan being heroes until I can see exactly what this guy's threats were and how they were written.
Also since the guy is in college and child porn goes up to 18, he may have had pics of people he knows, who are only a year younger due to sex-ting, so I am not 100% convinced by that either. Most people when told 'we found child porn' say 'kill him'. I first ask what kind of child porn before saying 'kill him'.
Would have been more convinced if they had found some unlicenced firearms, etc

Edit: read through linked articles and threats and it seems like a fair cop. So good on 4chan. Even providing his IP address without needing a warrent etc.

I doubt anyone who read his posts actually thought "Oh no he's going to shoot up his school". Someone clearly realised that his threat of this could send him straight to jail without passing go and called it in. This is just more trolling.
