And you Europeans say your countries are better than ours. Your have preschoolers that try to kill each other with knives and your schools don't give a fuck. Now while I know not all Europeans turn a blind eye to this sort of thing, I will say to the ones who do "I am a bisexual of Jewish descent who believes in Atheism and has no criminal record who has lived in America all his life saying "you are as bad as the rest of the human race, get over it!"

Oh yeah, I do feel sorry for the kid, hope he can learn the meaning of "in the closet" before he gets killed by preschoolers. Now while I have to say I don't know what he is going through, I will say I know people who know what he is going through, so your not the only one.
I have 1 thing to say to you.
School shootings in America and street violance.
Yes, London is fucking dangerous, but Paris? Naaah.
Unless of course your Arab or a poor Indian. Those French really don't seem to like those guys.
Because everyone in America was completly OK with that "mosque" at Ground Zero.

You know, Europe can be a real shithole sometimes, mostly in the eastern parts. Crazy stuff. But then again, in America religous nutheads are considered serious politicians.

I say, both sides be crazy man.

Nothing ageist you though, any Brit who has The Duke as his picture is good in my book.
Heh.
He's apart of my childhood as much as Oscar Wilde was and Shakespeare, oh I loved their books..
I was more of a Douglas Adams, Ray Bradury person. Never took my reading too too seriously, nor do I take my responses. Still Read F.451, just got back into it, what say you?

While this is absolutely a disgusting, horrible and wrong story and I am by no means trying to justify bullying, I do think parents have a certain responsibility to make sure their kids aren't "obvious" or "easy" targets.

Bullies have been around forever and they always will be. I am not saying we should roll over and give in to the bullies, but come on. If you really think you can dress your son in pink without him getting bullied you are otherworldly at best and delusional at worst.

*Twitches* That's a stupid reason for stabbing somebody, and they shouldn't let it happen!

This reminds me of a good friend of mine, who's raising her kids without gender stereotypes, and one of them likes pink. I'd hate to think how he'll be treated in school.

Seriously? No immediate action? Schools in my district have ZERO tolerance for behavior like this. That kid would have been suspended, maybe even expelled. Regardless what level of the school. Hell, at my old high school, if you threw one punch it was a trip to the police station. How can a school be so passive to this sort of thing?

It's easier to ignore it and hope it fades away.

Better response then I expect, but I will say that not all Americans are right wing nut jobs, nor all Europeans have the same culture nor are all bigots. What I am saying is that them not even caring or saying that they have problems when we bring it up in argument while not only talking about our problems all the time, And then when we say they are all the same, they get all pissed off and call us "Usual Americans," which is as just as bigoted as a response as ours.

Different country different culture. Here in america, I say bullshit the school has a responsibillity to make sure the children stay safe. But maybe that's how they roll over there.

So the morale of the story is: If you as a male is willing to do something that is outside of your gender role, then you are wrong, and you should accept the fact that everyone will hate and bully you?

... I am astonishment...
Unfortunately you can't apply adult reasoning to children, especially ones that young. It's a fact that their brains are undeveloped, they're biologically incapable of the same reasoning as an adult. Children behave differently to adults and bullying those different is perfectly normal at that age, it's not to be encouraged but it can't be fully stopped either.

The school's correct in a way, if that kid continues to be a target he WILL be bullied. You can expel the bullies for doing what comes naturally but more will take their place, this kid will be a target until the other children develop the ability to empathise (and that's not a lesson mind you, that's a milestone in physical development). Pressure to conform at a young age is all part of a child's learning process, you can't watch him all the time and he has to learn how other people work. His parents are teaching him a very destructive lesson by saying that he can do whatever he wants and that he has no need to care what others think of him, it'd be nice if it worked but it doesn't.

Children don't think like adults basically, you can't imbue them with an abstract reason for doing something like this when the reason he's bullied for being different is simply that. They're not being homophobic and they're not reinforcing gender roles, they're six years old for goodness' sakes, they aren't capable of thinking like that.

Yes, we should just encourage kids that are different that they should stop being unique and learn to be normal just like everybody else. That's sure the right message to send

Just because bullying happens doesn't mean that we should accept it AT ALL. How are the parents wrong for allowing their child to pursue his own interests? Isn't that a GOOD thing? Honestly I think teaching kids the lesson that it' only OK to like certain things because of your sex is much much more destructive than what the parents did here.

Maybe I just grew up in the right district. You can also report bullying here to one of the guidance counselors. Then the parents are called in, in some cases. Why the hell aren't all schools against school violence and bullying. I smell a potential lawsuit....

Sigh* the media always over does these kind of things in every neighborhood there are people who are going to get bullied for varying reasons. A "blunt knife" is often simply a kitchen knife used to put butter on bread...
Why the hell should it matter what kind of knife he uses?

It is the "usual American mistake when talking about Europe" What other mistake when talking about Europe do you think Americans commit more frequently? It is not "the mistake of the usual American", it is the "usual mistake made by Americans".

I don't really care if you're offended if I'm honest, you said something stupid and I am correcting that stupidity. I could have been offended at you lumping my culture in with a dozen unconnected ones but I tolerate it, but if you're going to say something deliberately inflammatory then you can take a little slip of the keyboard with good grace yes?

My point is that Europe has no single government, code of laws or culture, US laws are controlled at the federal level but every country in Europe is a separate entity. Therefore allowing an event in one country to affect your judgement of another is unwise. European countries have a few shared political structures through which they can act jointly but each country maintains it's own culture, military and legal system.
First of all, you mad? If yes then I see why you have rage guy as your picture.

Second, I say inflammatory statement because one, it is funny; and two, so I don't get too into the argument as you are. You are getting mad over a mild cultural argument over the internet, and the fact that you use the word "stupid" instead of "uninformed" and you didn't listen to my point of saying that
"I group Europeans together because Europeans group me with Red Necks and [sarcasm]*spits* Californians[/sarcasm] because we live in the same country, which I find unfair and bigoted."

Now if you think that doing that is childish then I don't blame you but I will not change my behavior because of it.

All I can say is...

What the fuck, Sweden?
Well, you see, based on my experiences in third grade, Sweden is absolute balls at stopping bullying. So it´s only natural that they blame it on the children (not saying it´s right, only obvious)

One of my teachers in high school said it best: "Sweden´s educational system is frankly, shit. It disallows throwing out any idiots and bullies in favor of trying to make them "Normal" and "friendly" instead"

Just watch, that kid is going to bomb his school, saying these words...
(Sacrasm, I really don't think this)

I honestly think that kid who stabbed him should be sentanced to jail time... even though he is probably 5.
