Rappers Ask Bethesda for More Elder Scrolls

"Geek rappers" Dan Bull and Baron Samedi have issued a musical plea to Bethesda [http://www.bethsoft.com], asking them to hurry up with a new Elder Scrolls game and threatening trouble if it doesn't.

Oblivion [http://itsdanbull.com/], the last Elder Scrolls game, and with no sign that a new game is in the offing, the duo did the natural thing: they wrote a song.

Like true rappers, Bull and Samedi threaten dire consequences for Bethesda if it doesn't come across with the goods; like true nerds, the consequences they threaten include ongoing pestering and perhaps a letter-writing campaign. "Please, we need another Elder Scrolls," Bull says in the song. "If I don't get ahold of one I'll go out of control. Sure, Fallout was a whole different level and it was incredible, but it didn't have the visual elegance and mystic mythic elements that lifted it through excellence and into sheer perfectionism." And yes, it definitely comes out better in musical form.

I actually preferred Morrowind [http://www.amazon.com/Elder-Scrolls-Morrowind-Game-Year-Pc/dp/B0000CNUUP/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1289257270&sr=1-1] but I'm still happy to give the musical duo my vote. For all their flaws, the Elder Scrolls games are a uniquely massive and immersive RPG experience, and I think we've waited long enough. How about it, Bethesda? Are you ready to give us what we want, or are you prepared to face pestering forever?

I'm with you, Andy. Morrowind was the best.
I do agree with these guys though, I'd like a new Elder Scrolls very VERY much.

Otherwise I'll just wait on the good volunteers of Tamriel Rebuilt. Go modders!

EDIT: I also love how they incorporated the soundtrack into the rap, just brilliant :D

I'm not into rap but that was pretty cool. Bethesda should totally make a new Elder Scrolls just because of that song... Also because i want a new one too. I preferred Morrowind to Oblivion as well both are epic games.

Imma let you finish, Andy. But Oblivion is the best Elder Scrolls game of ALL TIME!

On topic, here is the proof that rap is often done for a good cause. I'm actually not rushing Bethesda on this anymore, though. They really need to move away from the Gamebryo engine.

I have an odd feeling that this'll turn into a Oblivion vs Morriwind argument...
OT: I also want another Elder Scrolls, I lost so many hours to Oblivion...

Awesome song and Ya I would kill for another one of these Elder Scrolls games. As for this Morrowind Oblivion debate; if they could mix the excellent world with Oblivions graphics I'd be a happy man. For the new ES though I want a new engine that doesn't bug out

Can we get these guys to rap about making a KOTOR 3 while they are at it? A new elder scrolls and a new kotor would make me explode with joy. I need a new game where I can build a necromancer.

i can agree to this about the engine. please. time to get off of that and upgrade! Bethesda i know you can do better, if you apply your games to a better engine, i guarantee you will be that much better and closer to winning my fanboyism.

Bethesda, what are you doing? Besides Brink, Rage and Hunted: Demon's Forge, come on you have enough time to get to work on that Elder Scrolls game. I believe in you. Or you could just announce that you've been working on it the entire time, and release it soon. Bethesda's the company that recently stated they would announce a game soon, and it's release would quickly follow right?

I'm actually glad they didnt make an elder scrolls right after the last one (like fallout new vegas) this way once they make the next one it will look like a complete overhaul from oblivion (unlike fallout newvegas which was just dlc for fallout 3 with more bugs) and hopefully they take their time and make it super cool!!!

Well, I think Bethesda has said that a new game in the series won't be in the cards for a while yet on a couple of occasions. Given the time they tend to leave between annoucement and release I am not going to hold my breath.

As far as the lack of magic and mysticism, I do tend to agree RPGs just aren't the same to me without access to special powers and/or magic. "Fallout" being one of the few games that has succeeded without those elements.

Interestingly one of the reasons why I've felt that Bethesda would do better to develop a differant post apocolyptic RPG franchise is specifically because they do such a good job with their magic systems and such.

Imagine if instead of keeping things to the quirky retro-future setting, they went in a differant science fantasy direction, with something more akin to "Gamma World" with tons of unique mutations, psionic powers, and other kinds of utter wierdness.

The retro-future thing is cool and all, but to be honest it's kind of losing it's appeal and I've been longing for a more traditional approach to things as well. I mean there is something cool about listening to a fairly upbeat 50s soundtrack while exploring an apocolyptic wasteland, but a world where we could get some more modern rock, metal, industrial, etc... music involved would be nice too. You know the kind of thing that makes you normally think of dystopian worlds... as opposed to building games totally out of these jarring contrasts.

Just some thoughts...

At any rate, we'll see what happens, but I suspect the next "Elder Scrolls" will be here around the same time as "Half Life 2: Episode 3". I also figure the odds of seeing a more traditional take on a post apocolyptic setting are about on par with seeing someone develop another RPG property out of "Shadowrun".

Elder Scrolls is a excellent serie and we do need a number five. I'm sure Bethesda have it on their minds.

God, I would freak out if that was announced. I can't put into words how let down I was when I found out that the 2007 Shadowrun was actually just a online only first-person shooter. The SNES game remains one of my favorites.

They also speak of morrowind in the lyrics:

" Thanks Dan, I couldn't have put it better
Get it together, Bethesda, or we'll keep penning you letters
Being a vault dweller was special, but Wet was forgettable
So I'll never settle for anything less than an Elder Scrolls
Consumed by Blood Moon and swallowed by Morrowind
When I slip into Oblivion, I'm instantly lost in it
"

This song is too awesome!

EDIT: COrrected lyrics.
