Question of the Day, December 27, 2010

Shigeru Miyamoto says that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is
">about halfway finished, leading some to believe it may not make its early 2011 release date. Are you looking forward to it?

Not until Nintendo finally bothers with voice acting. If you're going to stick me with your usual shitty Zelda plot drivel and exposition, at least give me some voice work for once.

If it's bad, I can laugh at it. If it's good, it's good.

Super Mario Sunshine is no less of a game, despite it's horrid voice work. Zelda can take the hit just as easily.

I don't like where they're going with the control, I'm afraid it will kill the game

Zelda, Mario - they're old and milked nearly to death. There's almost no room to grow. Certainly, Nintendo did a better job in keeping their babies alive (something that Sega didn't bother about) but, still, I think it's time to move on for Nin.

I do actually own a Wii, but I don't know where the controllers or cords are as I haven't used it in about 4 years.

So no, I'm not getting it.

I don't actually think Mario has been milked to death, because honestly when a character appears in everything from an RPG to a fucking TENNIS game, it's not really about the character anymore, they are really just a generic placeholder and the only thing remotely similar about all the games are many of the textures.

So I don't think Mario has been overused, because "Mario game" isn't a type of game anymore, it's a texture pack.

Also, Zelda is the kind of series where as long as you have fresh puzzles, dungeons, and bosses, it can't really get stale.

Other: "No, I'm not interested."

I like Zelda. I have a Wii. I'm just not interested in the game in general, even if it gets good reviews.

If it means that I have to buy Wii Motion +, then I'll wait until there are a few more games I want that use it too.

Lack of just a No option is disappointing. I don't dislike Zelda, and I do have a Wii. I'm just tired of Zelda games now. Just like I am with Mario, Metroid Prime and other nintendo franchise games.

Possibly, but there's still a huge possibility that adding voice acting to the silent protagonist can go horribly wrong (Metroid:Other M).
People tend to fear what they didn't already "know", regardless of its veracity.

OT: 1:1 motion seems intriguing in a proper action game, though I expect the number of tennis elbow cases to take a sudden leap a few days after the game's release. Like most new releases from my beloved franchises, I remain cautiously optimistic and will at least investigate the game if not eventually purchase it.

I'm a life-long Zelda fan (and recovering fanboy), so I will certainly be buying the game. That being said, it doesn't look particularly good. I dislike the graphical style and don't think they're innovating enough. I guess we'll see when it comes out, though (I predict 8 out of 10s)

If it gets good reviews from my favourite critics then I'll consider it.
