Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern Costume Officially Retconned

Now that Warner Bros. is working to re-instill faith in its upcoming Green Lantern movie, new (way better) costume designs have been released.

Up until recently, people weren't exactly enthusiastic about this summer's Green Lantern thanks to the costume concept art and a trailer that were released before they should have been. The first step towards recovery was to admit that this was a mistake, <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108911-Warner-Bros-Admits-Green-Lantern-Trailer-Wasnt-Very-Good>which Warner Bros. did. Then, the movie studio released some <a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108948-Impressive-New-Green-Lantern-Trailer-Soars-Out-of-WonderCon>new, better, footage at WonderCon. Now, there are some new photos of what Ryan Reynolds is going to look like when he appears in the Green Lantern uniform; these, too, look a lot better than what was first released to the public.

The uniform looks like it's much more faithful to the comics than what was initially featured in the original movie trailer. There are some added details to the costume, including better color combinations and individual toes (which, honestly, seem a little awkward, but not terrible).

Green Lantern is due out on June 7, in both 2D and 3D. After a rocky start, it seems as though Warner Bros. is getting back onto the right track with this movie. However, what do you think of the costume? Is it close enough to the original to feel like a match? Or does it still need more work?

I've never been a Green Lantern fan, so I don't really know enough about the comic to judge how faithful/accurate the costume is. That being said, it doesn't look great--I would have much preferred a real costume rather than a CG one. This just looks odd. I'll probably will see it, though, because I have nothing better to do than watch movies and post on forums.

I like it, but I'm worried that the toes are going to bug me as much as Snake-Eyes' lips did.

I still don't care for it, granted it is a hell of alot better than what they first put out. Really they need to just drop the whole organic look, it looks stupid. I mean is it really so hard to replicate the GL outfit WB? Just don't mess with it, maybe if you add white to it's color pallet like the actual suit it won't look as terrible.

Between the two pictures provided in the article, I still don't see a whole lot of difference. I still wish there would be less CG work done, but based on the subject matter, I do understand why it's happening. It would be nice if the outfit looked more like a uniform, rather than a bodysuit though, and the gloves would help

Where are the white gloves?

I really don't get why they don't just make it look like this. This suit looks fine. That suit looks silly. Seriously, what's with this organic, skin-tight suit crap? It looks awful.

I think a film's merit and success should not be so dependent on it's lead actor's costume... Perhaps maybe focussing on things like plot, acting, direction and you know, actually being worth the celluloid its being burned to!

Or am I already expecting too much of yetanother over-budgeted super hero movie?
