Watch Why Wonder Woman Was Cancelled

A short clip gives us an idea of why the recent Wonder Woman television show was cancelled.

*Update*: Warner Bros. has had the clip taken down. We'll try to find another.

In early 2011, Wonder Woman was all set to make a return to television on NBC. A pilot episode was filmed starring Adrianne Palicki, but NBC ended up dropping the show [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110007-NBC-Turns-Down-Wonder-Woman-Pilot]. Today, a short clip may clue us in on why it wasn't picked up.

Warner Bros. and NBC executives previously stated that Wonder Woman wasn't a fit [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/110361-Warner-Bros-CEO-Agrees-With-NBC-Passing-on-Wonder-Woman] with NBC's schedule, but I have a feeling the show didn't really work that well either. Granted, this is a 30 second clip from what was likely a 40-45 minute episode, but if the rest of the episode was like this it probably wouldn't have been something that grabbed viewers for an entire season.

The clip takes place in some sort of warehouse inhabited by a group of thugs that look like they just got finished drinking a protein shake or twelve. Wonder Woman busts in and then knocks over a fellow named "Chris" who is tasked to "block the gate" all by himself. Poor Chris.

Again, this is only a short clip, but to these eyes it looks like a fairly derivative work. Swap out Wonder Woman for any other character and you'd have a scene from a million of the other television shows out there: Hero unexpectedly breaks through all defenses, overpowers thugs, and saves the day. The end. Plus, is it just me, or does that outfit look horribly out of place on a crime-fighter in real life?

That... was... horrible. Most cliched scene I have ever witness (On top of the fact it looked like it was directed by a C-grade Director). Good call NBC. Also Wonder Women looked like a Stripper, I'm suprised Chris didn't pull out a doller before going to the flimsy gate.

Yeah, that was really terrible. And yes her outfit looks out of place. But I must admit, it sure wouldn't look out of place in my bedroom, if you know what I mean. *wink wink nudge nudge*

That looks pretty terible. Can't wait for the whole trainwreck to be released.

Wow... Sometimes I wonder if Television is slowly going down the tube. Still, it would have been pretty nice to see a show on Wonder Woman. A movie would be pretty sick though! :D

Everyone was railing critics for getting this show cancelled. Turns out the critics couldn't have been more right. Many fanboys died to bring us this information.

Yeah Chris lock the gate!

Where the hell was she infiltrating? A creatine testing facility?

I'm glad it got pulled.

Okay, that was pretty bad but it was far from the worst thing I have seen on television.

Seriously Chris, just lock the gate!

that was pretty cheesy, but I can't see why something like that wouldn't have worked on a network like SciFi(screw the SYFY crap), they'll give almost anything a couple seasons.

What boggles my mind is that is closer to the original costume, which is what people wanted. Now they're railing on it for being more faithful? The internet makes no sense. I guess that shouldn't be a surprise.

This is why superheroes only appear on TV in cartoon form. You just can't make stuff like this look good on a TV budget and without big stars filling the lead roles.

I've seen much worse.

I dunno. Chances are it would've been pretty bad, but the actress fills out the costume nicely and... did I miss something in all the debate about her outfit since what's she's wearing there is much closer to the character's comic book look than what was seen in the stills from filming.

She forced her way through a massive warehouse gate with her bare hands, so their genius plan to stop her was to lock the chain link fence she was standing behind?

Well, if they want to give the show a second chance I know a few twelve year olds who could give them a better story.

The actress was way to "wispy" to be Wonder Woman. They way she walked didn't sell on her ability to physically carry the role of someone who has "Greater than normal strength". I'm not saying she needs to be a female bodybuilder, but if they could have found someone similar to Lucy Lawless it would have been better.

Between Adrianne Palicki in that outfit and the fact that this scene was strait up hilariously bad, I'm now very disappointed that this show was canceled.

I've seen amateur/independent productions that were done for lower budget and had more quality really... I guess we are lucky that abomination did not make it full production.
