How is that even possible since the dimm slots are keyed. That reaches a new level of sadness.Xan Krieger said:I gotta schedule my exam. Thankfully I got a new neighbor and he has several certifications including A+. I loved a prepatory class I took where I actually saw a computer start on fire because someone put the RAM in improperly.
What we actually do is pretty simple. The only reason i am taking this class is so i can take networking next year.Bluntknife said:for those of you that don't know A+ is a hardware certification for people who have little to no experience plugging things in.
I personaly never took the course because I felt it was a waste of 400 dollars.
A friend recently took it and the most complex thing they did was make thier own ethernet cables.
That being said, if you have half a brain on you, you'll do fine.

I wasn't watching them as we were in groups putting together different computers. When I did see the fire I didn't try to put it out because I had another problem. I couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard. It was the only computer that was destroyed that day.Mindex said:How is that even possible since the dimm slots are keyed. I was just wondering if you guys had any tips for me that I use to help me prepare for this exam. This does not include doing anything illegal or stupid.
The worst thing that has happened in my class so far is that a grasshopper crawled onto one kids CMOS battery and melted to it. Wrecked the motherboard.Xan Krieger said:I wasn't watching them as we were in groups putting together different computers. How did it get in there and did it make any kind of interesting noise while being horribly electrocuted and killed?Mindex said:The worst thing that has happened in my class so far is that a grasshopper crawled onto one kids CMOS battery and melted to it. never heard of such a thing. i never even heard about A+ cerficates. i currently live in europe.Gitsnik said:Take it from someone who actually has the A+, read that textbox from cover to cover a couple of times. Nods to Vallance but I don't recall seeing that question, though considering the OS X certification had the same thing in it, I tend to believe it was in there. And don't stress about it too much, just remember figures and stats and you'll be fine, it's damned near impossible to fail it IMHO.
Actually, IIRC, a lot places in Europe won't hire you if you don't have it.asinann said:In other words, something that won't get you any work because places that hire computer techs want someone that has experience, not classes.Alex_P said:It's a certification for computer technicians.
