I edited the quoted post now that I reread through the topic (sucks when you're tired upon waking up only to find yourself in another long day).

Sorry if I sounded a little douche-y on the previous posts.

While I can apreciate the humor of the situation, I must wonder if there have been legitamately pissed off people who have made the same claim. I wouldn't be surprised.

If that was the case, you would only be exacerbaiting an already unteanable situation. Pissing people off pointlessly tends to be more negative than positive.

Apologies for being so logical. They don't call me The Logician because I'm good at math.

Nobody calls you the Logician, you call yourself the Logician. We didn't choose your username, you did. Simple logic.

And yeah... Any company where they genuinely regard a letter like that seriously and not as either a parody or as a demented fabrication of sheer retardation deserves to fail.

I'm undecided whether what's more depressing: this or the 50 cent game.

Two things

1) In school I was known as "The Logician" after I out-debated a teacher in class, and someone blurted out "Are you a logician or something?"

2) I didn't say that the company would take such a letter seriously; instead, I implied that if someone thought it up as a joke, then someone else very likely thought it up as a legitamate concern, and that the companie(s, as it was brought to my attention) still periodically get letters like that. In effect, I was saying that they wouldn't take it seriously, and might send a letter of apology to Decoy Doctorpus.

Apologies for not clarifying myself before.

My bad: Nobody here called you The Logician, and seeing as you picked the name, you called yourself the logician. In their defense, a LOT of teachers aren't really very smart... or students...or people in general really... Sturgeon's law. But aaaaaaanyways, back to what matters:

Alright, you lost me there. They wouldn't take it seriously, but they would send an apology?

Yes, so you wouldn't complain that they didnt adress the issue. I've been under the impression for some time (the whole issue bringing about this thread reenforcing this impression) that most companies take religion very seriously, out of fear of boycotts; if The Pope tells people not to buy PS4's, a lot of people aren't going to buy PS4's. Also, I personally find it more condecending that they would try to pacify you without taking direct action than tell you they aren't going to adress the issue at all.

Admittedly, there's a possibility that they would simply do nothing, being as one person doesn't superceed everyone else, but being as they make it out to be a religious issue, the result might be different.

Apologies for not clarifying myself. Again. I blame the Aspergers.

At one point, for a study, they (the anonymous they!) hosted an online signature drive to get the government to ban the element Dihydrogen Monoxide*. If you say it seriously enough, people will take it seriously. We could probably start a movement.

*dihydrogen monoxide is water

Penn & Teller did that at some kind of hippy gathering. Got a few hundred signatures.

Poe's Law:

It is impossible to make a parady of a religeon without someone mistaking it for the real thing.

In other words, it is impossible to parady fuedelism without someone taking it seriously.

God I love the internet.

You crushed my hopes then raised them again because...well that was funny.

Like many of you I responded to the news that Little Big Planet's release would be delayed by a whole week because of some (legitimate) concerns from religious gamers, by descending into a frothing nerd rage. I then drafted the following letter I plan to send to Sony human resources.

To whom it may concern

I am writing in regards to the control device or 'controller' supplied with your product the 'PLAYSTATION 3'. While I am satisfied with the performance of the controller both ergonomically and aesthetically I, and some members of a christian gaming forum I frequent, have noticed something that disturbs us greatly. Since the directors of Sony have proven themselves open to suggestions from minority religious groups I decided that I would contact you directly with these concerns in the hope that could correct this problem as soon as possible.
The Crucifix, or 'Cross' is a vital part of Christian symbolism and is, for many people, a linchpin for their faith. Imagine my surprise when I discovered the holy cross, symbol of our lord Jesus Christ's sacrifice, does in fact adorn the PS3 controller in a very undignified fashion. No matter how you look at it, the 'D-PAD', as it is called, is undoubtedly a representation of the crucifix. While I appreciate that there is no specific tenet in our faith pertaining to the display of the holy cross and that you may find it on T-shirts, shop windows, in taxi cabs, etc I can't help but feel that displaying the holy cross on a video game entertainment system is unsuitable and offensive in the extreme.
These pictures may highlight the problem in more detail.

It is not my intent to voice outrage nor demand a product recall, in fact I would rather avoid that, especially with the imminent release of little Big Planet, but I insist that something must be done about this obvious design flaw which has the potential to offend many members of the world's second largest faith. Perhaps you could issue a circular cover of some sort? I would appreciate a prompt response.

Thank you for your time and God Bless.

Yours

Jeremy Frogmouth

Idk if people realize, but the fact that the cross became the symbol of christianity is out of pure stupidity.

Yeah. The cross was a symbol of death. Then a bunch of christians went to egypt and saw the ankh symbols in heiroglyphs. they went:

"OMG! this must be a prophecy about jeesus! looks like a cross and on top of that egyptians say its a symbol of reincarnation! this cant be a coincidence!"

Im not even kidding.

On another note, ty doctorpus for making my brain explode yet again with this. I had no idea to what point some humans can be stupid till today.
