I agree with that as well and I stopped watching TBP because of the Kevin Smith thing. Not sure how long it will last but I'm going to be ignoring it for a while.
I'm sort of curious as to where he's going, so I'll keep watching. It doesn't offend me, at least not on a level that would stop me watching, but it's kind of....absurd.

But I'd also say that this isn't particularly new ground for Bob. He's frequently ranted against movies and even audiences in a basically "stop liking what I don't like" fashion. And continued to do so well after the shelf life. I suspect ASM 2 references will only truly taper off when ASM 3 gets a trailer, but there was also The Dark Knight Rises, The Lone Ranger and The Expendables to a lesser extent, and Twilight, though with less laser-like focus than Not-Raimi. And those are just off the top of my head. Bob tends to do this a lot.

Hopefully, this doesn't come off as a knock on Bob. Bob has made no pretenses that he is fair and balanced; these are his opinions in highly opinionated pieces. What it is, to me, is this curious notion that there's some difference between when he does it one time, and when he does it another.

And I think the difference is whether or not people agree with him. I wonder if the Kevin Smith thing is specifically because he's still Nerd Jesus to so many, because MovieBob is....well, he's being MovieBob. It looks like what happens with Zero Punctuation. People love watching games get ripped into, then get offended when he rips into "their" game. Suddenly, Ben Croshaw is "teh bias" or a "hater" or he sucks. It's not so much what he's doing, but who he's doing it to that sets people off.

Basically bob is saying that unconventional men, aka those who are exhibiting feminine characteristics are just not to be respected, they should be flat out disregarded and seen as a perfect opportunity for replacement, after all, what is a feminine man? Certainly not something anyone should care about right?

Its amazing how this supposed progressive just made the least progressive pitch around. Because link didn't fit his strict idea of a gender norm, he decided it was a perfect opportunity to replace him..... its just mind boggling once you think about it.

Never mind the fact it wouldn't stop the SJW crowd from complaining, a stock complaint of anita and co is the "miss male character", you gender swap link and that's exactly what you got again:)

I'd love to see bob ask for a gender swap in the hunger games last film, after all, its only fair and it can only improve the property by creating "diversity"! You know the best types of people are the ones that look at the hunger games and think to themselves, "I would enjoy this more if katniss were a man like me"....

This petty nonsense about gender in games really has to stop. There are reasons why in narratives especially those based on historical tropes adhere to certain gender rules. Women whatever they say don't really want a prince that needs to be saved, and historically and biologically women just didn't fight on the front lines, it just isn't logical to waste your societies resources that way, war doesn't have affirmative action, if your enemy is bigger and stronger, he's not going to hold one hand behind his back to make it fair.

You can't swap the roles of jack and rose in titanic and have it work. Even women wouldn't stand for it if rose sacrificed her life at the end so jack could live, everyone would be disgusted, lets be honest. And sjw types just won't acknowledge this or even think about why it is so, and that's the problem, and its why they make silly demands as bob has done.

On the predominance of male protagonists
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5L2MBPBl3I
and on why the modern alien movies suck
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etZRsZP64Xg
Alien as he covers in those videos is an example of a well done female protagonist, the story fits, and can't be gender swapped because it acknowledges the differences in gender.

Like how Maleficent was a metaphor for rape
Yeah but, it is.
I would say more of a feminazi propaganda movie. Like a Disney movie if written by Anita Sarkeesian.

In terms of the op, Bob can say things that seem weird but ever since his gameoverthinker had a story, I stopped caring so much.
Feminazi propaganda, what? A story about a guy who betrays somebody and gets his comeuppance, and the person who he betrayed getting what was stolen from her back and allowing peace to be restored? At what point is it "feminazi?" It isn't anti-man, just anti-bad-people. That the bad people in the film are mostly two guys (the old king and Stephen) isn't a commentary against men. That'd be like saying the original Sleeping Beauty is anti-female because the hero is a male and the villain is a female. Prince Philip is brought in as a good guy and all that.

If anything, its anti-older-generation. A huge part of the resolution seems to be burying the sins of the past.
Well, Maleficent is the ONLY competent person in the movie. The scene where the ring burns her struck me as odd since that iron ring would be valuable in that setting, which to me seemed to indicate that strong women don't need relationships. There was the rapey scene when she gets roofied and suffers a crippling violation from the only male she cared about. Which leads me to my biggest gripe.

Instead of outing Stephan for what he did in front of all the nobility, not to mention his wife, Maleficent keeps it quiet. This was shocking to me. Imagine the scene where she bestows the curse and Stephan drops to his knees and begs. I would've written the scene so Maleficent says 'Yes, beg me for mercy like I begged you not to take my wings. Beg for the life of your daughter who you only got by betraying my trust. You drugged me and cut off my wings for your own selfish pride. So go ahead and beg, Stephan. Throw yourself upon the mercy of the person you betrayed.' To me, a much better scene.

How about the only other female characters are the moronic fairies whose negligence almost got Aurora killed, and that reminds me, why did Stephan trust the fairies? He had just met them, but entrusts his daughter to them. So the only competent person has to watch over her, but didn't the curse later on lead her to the locked room, which it unlocked and reformed a spinning cradle, couldn't it look after her instead of Maleficent having to stalk Aurora?

The scene where Maleficent tries to recant the curse was cool, and that should've driven her to master the Powers of Hell as it is not magic based on Earth. And why did she take the Prince Charming stand-in to the castle when he was already going there!?

To me, this film was screaming 'Only Women can get anything done by themselves'. The acting was brilliant, but the story forgot it was supposed to be about Maleficent, not 'Sleeping Beauty as told by Maleficent'.

And why didn't Stephan just wall off the access to her room, it is obvious he had enough iron for it? Oh yeah, Maleficent was dragging Prince Helium around for some arbitrary reason, so the plot had to let her through...

Stefan Molyneux isn't the best person to get your information from, just saying. This is the same guy that thinks that if parents stop hitting their children then we'd be living in a fantastical non-violent paradise in approx. 5 years.

Yeah, I mean when I watched Maleficent I got the whole 'feminazi vibe', and I kept seeing it everywhere. I having nothing against people with their more aggressive feminist views, but this movie seemed preachy to me. Then again, so is Stephan.

But he does have a good point about Dioval, though.

John Conquest/Dildo Faggins/Whatever his name is this week is a smug asshole who has shown himself to be uninterested in actually debating people in favor of just string drama

Bob Chipman is a self-satisfied, smug, arrogant Social-Justice-Warrior ass-kisser who refuses to look at anything critically if it risks his progressive image (*cough* Anita Sarkeesian *cough*) and really needs to get over the 1980s already.

I could not possibly give fewer fucks about who "wins" this internet slappy fight.

I don't have to agree with someone 100% to find them interesting, or correct in some ways. I think he goes too far into the coddling of children, that's for sure, but he does have a point about the hidden messages which are of course never addressed by the mainstream in those movies, since they like to tear into movies about every other issue they normally fixate on, aka the "not enough female characters" type of nonsense.

Well he doesn't make an actual point until two and a half minutes in and the first actual critisim is that the sound editing has sped up his voice slightly. The horror, the horror.

He makes a couple of actual valid points at around the six minute mark but otherwise it's just not a very good video. And frankly a really bizarre point to take issue with.

Now Moviebob isn't beyond critique, far from it. He's nowhere near as smart as he thinks he is and nowhere near smart enough to justify the arrogance he displays. He's said alot of stupid things and should be called on them but this video really doesn't do a very good job of it.
That video seems to be the video equivalent of the Anita Sarkessian critics who say "U SUK! Double Dragon wasn't Sexist! She got to break the end boss who kidnapped her in half in the credits, getting the ultimate revenge on him! U SHUD GET RAEPED!" You kind of scratch your head, wondering how this guy could be so idiotic for the beginning and end, then make a passable and actually arguable point in the middle.
You are right, all these privileged idiots do nothing but make our world worse with their opinions backed up by facts:

I'm pretty sure John Conquest is a denizen of a certain site with over 9000 members. If you frequent a particular board which loves reag and the vidya then the feel of his content will seem very familiar.
