So...Ryu is only mid-tier and you're upset? Or Eagle, maybe? I can't tell.

Speaking as a Guilty Gear fan, though...tough.

Mornelithe said:
Well, seriously, you said it yourself...Ryu going by canon, is _the_ most powerful Street Fighter on the planet. Even the artificial construct of Seth, wasn't a match for Ryu. Now, if you've seen the original Street Fighter movie, you'll see that his 'potential' is higher than that of M. Bison (interesting story there...Balrog was actually supposed to be the bad guy, ala Mike Tyson...M Bison etc.. but they decided to change it at the last moment). Anyway, his potential...doesn't necessarily denote that's what he always fights at, or, rather, that he immediately reaches that potential. Ryu's always training, always attempting to improve himself...whereas Ken is more driven on winning.
Actually, I'm pretty sure Akuma is the strongest (or maybe Oro, if you count SF3). Ryu is far from it...as well it should be. If he was already the strongest, why should he be wandering around?

And no, M. Bison was always the bad guy. It's just that his original name is Vega.
Actually, you're wrong. And really, all it takes is a small amount of research to prove that.

I'm certain you have some backing to your claims though.
Of course I do. You linked to some of them, in fact. M. Bison was always the main villain.

Beyond that, Akuma's power has never been analyzed, however, as previously stated, by cannon, Ryu has the highest 'potential' of any Street Fighter.
Highest potential, perhaps, but he's not the strongest fighter. He won his fight against Sagat in the original game only by a fluke; Sagat kicked his ass and stopped fighting, only for Ryu to somehow use Satsui no Hadou and connect a Shoryuken on wakeup (giving Sagat his scar). In Street Fighter Alpha, a psycho-brainwashed Ryu and Sagat fought again, with Sagat's victory. I'm not sure what happened with Ryu in Street Fighter 2, maybe he was the one who fought with Akuma at the end (fairly certain Guile was the one to beat Bison). We do know that Ryu is one of three people who's ever survived getting hit by the Shun Goku Satsu (the other ones being Gen and Oro), but since Akuma's "serious" fights are to the death, I'm not sure. And in SF3, Ryu got his rear handed to him by Oro, and is training under him as a result.

True, I will agree with the Eagle part, and I can vouch after using him for some months that he isn't on par with Ryu in the game. However he is still a solid character, don't put him down just yet. But do know that they most probably won't be changing him up, as this is a localisation version, if anything they might add some characters to balance out the roster (they lost one, it was that genie from tatsunoko, I hated him anyway) but they probably won't change the characters up.

And I hope to god that it's Ken Masters as the make up character, either him or Dante. Say what you will about Ryu being Ken's ***** (Ken just happens to be my favourite, it will be evident next) but I think that's a make up for the Ryu worship in every damned Street fighter film (save for the first), comic, and other Capcom related media (I despised the movies Street fighter Alpha and Street Fighter IV as a result). I also think that them nerfing Ken in SFIV is a damned travesty, but all I can do now is cry myself to sleep, and assume it was all an attempt to keep the two equal.

Goku wins, easily.

On that topic though, I'd really love to see a Capcom vs SNK III. Mark of the Millenium was a crazy game.
Oh sweet Jesus don't even make me think about it. CvS2 was easily the best crossover game I've ever played, to hell with marvel vs Capcom.

Yeah, they should make us pay for two player modes and shit like that instead.

Seriously capcom, you make the greatest games that are mired in the below EPIC scores because of how you treat your characters and how you treat us.

Seriously people, when it comes to bosses, aren't the Capcom game bosses the cheapest?
Namco aren't far off at all. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtBVCoZVHMI]

I don't think a move that takes ages to charge (and so is easily avoidable and/or interruptible) but is a one hit kill is really that cheap. That fireball basically requires you to stand still for a good while.

But really, there's a reason why it's called the SNK Boss Syndrome and not the Capcom Boss Syndrome. Because when it comes to cheating, SNK does it best. The bosses in their games almost always read your inputs.

You clearly have a firm grasp on this concept of the "Vs." fighting game, and as such would like your opinion on my suggestion for the genre:DragonBall Z vs. Sailor Moon.

Capcom have a history of making their lead roles poor, with the cannon stating they are the shits but in game they fail.
Maybe the issue is that capcom develop each game while completely disregarding the rest of the series. This would account for why there have been so many res evil games, and yet we're somehow only up to Resident Evil 5.

Did you just call him Ken Masters?, listen Chrome, this is my thread and I will not have people speaking about Ken favourably and say his second name, I fucking hate him, I only hate him due to his character profile and his stupid overpowered dragon punch. But regardless I will not fucking stand for it!

I'm so glad they nerfed Ken in favour of Ryu for SF4, Ryu's rightful place is at the top echelon of fighting game prowess, he fights for honour and to better himself, Ken fights for shits and giggles, the big blouse. And he's American with blond hair. christ man

Not to say I dislike Yanks, I just dont like them as a characterised fighter, strange that, I spout about not being a patriot yet being French I naturally gravitate towards the French fighters such as Remy the Emo ***** from SF3, Abel in SF4 (his move priority makes him cool) and Leon Rafale in Virtua Fighter.

Its just I fucking hate the Ken hadoken spammers you used to get in every arcade, I was like 12 and the bigger boys would go mad at me for choosing someone other then Ken, you know what bigger boys? its my money and I'll play who I want... hahaha bigger boys, whose the better man now ? AYE? yeah thats right, I'm the better man for choosing Ryu over Ken, since he's the stronger now, in fact i'm so much the better man I'm on the internet telling strangers i'm better than you.

You can't bully me anymore bigger boys! HAHAHAHAAH!

EDIT, whoops, did my mind just snap like a dry and brittle twig while typing the above?

I want to see Capcom vs. Sony.

Come on, you know that would be seven kinds of awesome.
ermmm, who would be on Sony's team?, Kratos?, Rico from Killzone (please no).

They should make a new Killer Instinct though, special guest the FuzzleGums from Viva Pinata. And they could have Kazooie, where they outright bludgeon him just like they did in Nuts and bolt.

Indeed it did. Don't bother trying to blame it on heatstroke either.

As for the post, I said it before, Ken MASTERS having the edge in DPs is to make up for the damned character shadowing and Ryu worship that has been going on by fans and Capcom alike. Did you watch SFIV the movie? It's not even worth putting in spoiler tags. Ryu fights Seth and Ken stops everyone including himself from getting involved, for no other reason but that Ryu is the protagonist and supposed Superman of the Capcom universe.

Where I'm from (not sure if you are in London or not, but I am), Ryu is much preferred over Ken (especially Hadou spammers, I'm surprised Hadou spammers used Ken), and I despise Ryu. Even as a character, his hollow personality and hobo mentality stress me out. Ken might seem like he fights for shiggles, but it's far from it. Ryu and Ken have been rivals for a reason, always trying to better themselves as fighters. As far as canon goes, they are equal, and Ken doesn't fight for TeH LulZ, he's just never fought with a killing intent before.

And you want to talk overpowered? With the Dragon Punch you have to get close. With the Hadouken, the same hadouken that stuns you with three straight hits, is more powerful than Ken's in the game. Hadou spammers have a field day.

So in summary, Ken 4 Life.

P.S. Leon Rafale was awesome in VF4, my second best character next to Vanessa. I personally found Remy to suck balls, however. And I forget which Emo ***** you might be referring to.

Agreed, CVS2 is honestly my favorite SF of all time at this point. Just so many different people to play, all extremely well balanced. And I'm still pretty prideful that I beat the survival mode on my own heh. That took some work, custom grooves were so worth it though.
Custom Grooves easily the best part of that game. Well, that and my ultimate team: Terry Bogard, King, and Ken. Good times. My friends dubbed me 'flying man' because of the fact that I could link multiple Tatsumaki Senpu-kyakus at any given time. I loved that game, and can't believe they released the travesty that was SvC chaos instead of CvS3.

Capcom's an incredible company! They treat all of their franchises like royalty. A new RE game, two new Bionic Commando games, a brand new Street Fighter, the list goes on and on and on. :)

And their PC ports are great!

Let's just hope they grow a couple brain cells between now and the time we track them down and pummel them into agreeing to make a new...worthy CvS. ;)
Shouldn't be Hard. All they need to do is hit a hundred characters. Put everyone from KoF and Last Blade in there, the cast of Onimusha, the cast of Devil May Cry, flesh out the groove system or make a new one based off of it, and we're laughing. Shouldn't be the hardest thing in the world. I'm grateful for Tatsunoko vs Capcom (they gave me Soki and Karas), but still...

Dante vs Soki from Onimusha 4? Yes Please.

i think i have figured it out this guy is just mad that his favorite characters arent the strongest..which happens in oh 98% of all fighting to everyone i think. Well except for me in Mortal Kombat Armageddon i'm perfectly okay with Scorpion being the second highest rank fighter on the tier list
