Actually, I liked that. In the first one, the Paragon options were always happy nice diplomacy and roses. But sometimes the right thing to do isn't necessarily the nice thing. That's why you could interrupt Zaeed by punching him in the face when he was endangering lives in his side-mission, among other things. It was nice to see that change this time around.

Two things really bugged me about ME2. Firstly, you've got this hyper-advanced AI on board, yet you have to scan planets manually, inch after painful, agonising inch. Secondly, you've got this hyper-advanced AI on board, yet you have to MANUALLY FEED YOUR FUCKING FISH! One of the most advanced, futuristic pieces of equipment in the galaxy and you can't even ask the thing to check on your fish if you forget.
You can get kelly to feed them...

This is VERY common in Mass Effect 2. Pick 1 thing, Shepard says something else entirely.

It is scary how often things don't go the way I thought they would because of the conversation wheel.

Not only this but how often is there no option for a paragon/renegade comment? Usually you get a neutral one, and then just one of either paragon or renegade.

I also thought it was a bit bullshitty that any option while talking to the illusive man that basically said "go fuck yourself" was Paragon, and any "yes sir whatever you say" bitchery was renegade. I played the game as myself (AKA I was an asshole to anyone other than the non-mordin members of my crew) and my paragon gage had some noticeable progress.

well it isn't a flaw with just mass effect 2
Mass effect 1 had a couple of the same flaws with its dialogue.

the choice 'this interview is over, turn off the camera' really ment 'Fawlcon Paaunch!'

They were branching out this game so paragon didn't equal pussy. Paragons actually rough up people who deserve/need it within reason.
Agreeded. I hated how in most games being the good guy means being a pussy. ME2 is one of the few games that rectofies it.

Let me guess this out of the way, I LOVE mass effect 2, it surpasses the first one easily in my opinion, and is easily one of my favorite if not my favorite game. But there is one thing that tires me to no end about this game:
Your chat options are a lie!
For instance, (Spoilers) when Grunt is talking about how he hates Turians, I saw an option "What about Garrus?". I thought my character would just ask a simple question, but instead he points his finger at him and yells "Don't start any shit on my ship!". This was completetly different from what option I had, and I noticed this happens fairly option were I'll click something thinking it'll be what I want, and end up saying something totally different.

So I have to ask, is this system flawed? Or am I just ranting about something that doesn't matter?
Err...with Mass Effect Shepard never says exactly what is on the conversation wheel. Even in Mass Effect 1. But they did make some interesting interpretations of the chosen option for the spoken dialogue in ME2.

Funniest one I saw was when talking to Samara about acquiring her loyalty mission, one of the evil options was, "cry me a river." I couldn't bring myself to select that option, but I loved the game ten times more from that time on.
YOu know you don't want to tell Samara "cry me a river" considering that she can crush every bones of your bodies you nay not want to badmouth hey

I accidently started a relationship with Jack which came completely out of the blue to me. I thought I was just being nice! Jeez can't you talk to a girl without only thinking of sex? Needless to say I 'dumped' Jack as soon as Tali came along but now if I speak to Jack she screams "Fuck Off!" at me... Which is actually pretty funny but I felt bad for her...

The thing that annoyed me is during Mordin's loyalty mission. All the way through you give him MASSIVE amounts of grief (if you choose Paragon) about the crap he's caused, him "killing" the entire krogan race blah de blah de blah. I actually felt sorry for Mordin and wished Shepard would stop being such a massive douche. But then at the end when you meet up with the other Salarian (can't remember his name) suddenly Mordin is alright and this other guy is the douche because he tests on live subjects and stuff.

The sheer speed at which Shepards point of view changes is abit off-putting, especially when i was actually on Mordin's side, but agreeing with him that he hadn't commited genocide would give me Renengade points ¬_¬

In Legion's mission you had the option of either taking away the heretics free will but giving them the chance to turn evil again and start more shit and let them join the "True Geth" who you have no evidence wont use their bolstered numbers and newfound lack of conflict to deal with those pesky organics.(Paragon for some reason), or just kill your enemies like you did several hundred times in that mission. (Renegade for some reason)

Paragons need to be badass too. What do you expect, an interrupt where Shep hugs a mercenary?

I don't understand why people can't live with a few Renegade points. Goddamit, you can get Paragon points blindfolded. Just don't be an ass to your crew and you'll be struggling to stay Renegade. Not fair. I made some desperate Renegade choices at the end, just because I wanted to finish as a Renegade and I had no idea where all those Paragon points came from.

And the only flaw of Mass Effect 2 : it has an end.

God knows what it is about me, i just have to always choose the "morally correct" option. Even if it does seem silly.

I think on my next playthrough i'll just do whatever feels right for me. I did have fun with some of the renegade interupts, like punching the reporter in the face. That was worth it.

Its not a flaw, its actually a very simple system to get used to. The answers on the lower portion of the wheel are renegade answers, even if they're not highlighted in red. Middle of the wheel are basic responses, top of the wheel are paragon. This system was in place in ME1 as well.

I find it funny that one of the paragon interupts IS a hug.

but anyway the dialog is fucked sometimes, and i loved the fact i snaped a mercs neck with a renagade interupt (By the by, i love the interupt system) and ME2, really dident have a end, it kinda bridged the two (and i wanted to yell bullshit when i saw the ending, if you know what i mean.)

Like when I talked to harrot, I used the special paragon option, and shepard offered to break his legs.

We suggested the expedient removal of testicles for viable transactions with Krogan. Fun times.

"I won't be second guessed on my own ship, by my own ship."

"What about Garrus?" is the lower right option, which means it's Renegade, which mean's Shepard's going to either be a jerk or shoot/punch something.

Just be glad he didn't whip it out.
What if someone uses a female character, like me?

it's an essentially flawed system, it gives you a basic idea what the TOPIC he will discuss is. not the emotion behind it unless it's highlighted as renegade or paragon. Otherwise it's really anyone's guess what it will be untill you've actually hit, but you can sort of use context as an answer, so if you'd been playing in such a way that Shepard has been all happy friednship with Turians, it seems to make sense he'd be a bit angry when Grunt says he hates them. Also, it IS Shepard's ship, so if Grunt started something . . . it'd be Shepards fault if it gets out of hand . . . and Shepard answers to the COUNCIL . . . who rather hated him in the first game (no idea if you saved them or not)

The somewhat vague dialogue options were there in ME1. However, in my experience it's fairly rare for the option you select to not reflect what is being said. Also, as someone else already stated, most of the time it's Upper Right = Paragon, Lower Right = Renegade (unless you're doing the Investigate).

As for the slightly edgier Paragon options in this game, I liked them. I tend to play good guys and it was really nice not to be a total pussy this time around. What people fail to understand is that Paragon isn't about being polite, it's about not compromising yourself and other people to get results and the ends do NOT justify the means. ME2 communicates that better.

What DOES irk me a bit is that some actions are deemed Renegade, when they are just cool. For instance, shooting the gas tanks during Mordin's Loyalty mission to shut the blabbering Krogan. That was just plain awesome, and you'd just end up killing him anyway. Same thing with killing the Gunship engineer during the Archangel mission. However, I don't cry and moan if I get a few Renegade points along the way, so it's all good.
Did you see the renegade action you could do when Archangel gave you the sniper rifle?

No offense, but I kind of have to disagree with you there, m'kay?

There was a pretty good cliffhanger at the end that left me begging for more because I'm a *****.
