COD Black Ops: Combat training on hardened difficulty. Sniping is already hard enough in this game due to wonky hit detection, but when a bot walking opposite your direction half a map away decides to suddenly 180-no-recoil-snipe you with a pithy SMG through a bush, it's time to exit the game before damaging something. Mind you, this happens all the time and I suspect the bots are biased against players. Everytime an enemy meets you and several of your teammates, and even if you're at the back of the crowd, you always miraculously die first. It's either badly-implemented bots or teams stacked against me 4/5 servers I join. *shrug* Sometimes I really want to like the game, but it doesn't seem to want to like me.

Serious Sam TFE: The frog room. Good God, the whole street must have heard my rage induced by the sheer unfairness of that section.

Crysis and the military choppers with spidey-sense. Even if you were cloaked and behind cover, they'd just hover around your position. Try and stealth away perfectly, and it STILL follows you around until one of you destroys the other.

Bad Company 2 and the rubber knife you wield at times, whilst some others are blessed with the almighty MW2 six-metre commando lunge.

STALKER series (on master difficulty): You can have a shiny and new, extremely accurate rifle but the instant you put a silencer on it, it shoots wildly. It's not helped by the fact that the AI can wield the worst pistol in the game that is in bad condition, or even sawn-off shotguns and still hit you at ridiculous distances, beyond the usual range of their weapons. They can accomplish this whilst strafing - meanwhile, you're having fun missing shots that should have hit with your makeshift sniper, whilst crouching and stationary.

ARMA 2 (even with ACE2 and Zeus AI): I'm snaking through tall grass after a hit and run episode. Then the camera pops to third person and there is my corpse, shot by an AKS-74U from 200 metres away. How the hell was I even seen?! I even took out my targets whilst prone, looking through blades of grass.

Minecraft: SSSSSSSSSSSSSS
That's why I play on peaceful when building stuff.

Mount and Blade series: When your friendly troops decide to randomly stop or run in front of you for great justice, whilst you're on horseback. Unlike the enemy, you can't push/knock them aside, leaving you to the mercy of an angry mob or a hail of projectiles.

Thief series: No, those guards didn't even see me. They only heard a little footstep about two rooms away. So as I silently sneak away from them amongst the shadows, WHY THE HELL ARE THEY STILL WANDERING IN MY GENERAL DIRECTION AFTER FIVE MINUTES OF CAREFUL EVASION? I understand that it's to make the player more cautious and the game harder, but still...taffin' psychic AI can go off itself.

SWAT 4: Your team's AI is incompetent as all hell, but the enemy AI...damn...as good as FEAR's.

Street Fighter IV: Seth's second forms on the higher difficulties. Yes it's hard, but there are better ways to go about making a challenging boss rather than a cheap one.

L4D2 single player: "Hey guys, I'm over here just getting my innards torn apart by a hunter. Take your time. Just stand over there ten metres away staring off into space." *whistles whilst guts are flying everywhere*

COD World at War campaign, veteran: Heart of the Reich. The game has a bad tendency of spawning a dozen grenades around you wherever you go. If it's not that, it's you getting shot up through a small gap by the entire Opfor whilst your friendlies ignore all sensible ideas of cover whilst magically being magnetically repulsive to bullets.

FFVI: MagiMaster first time around. Just when I thought I'd won, he casts Ultima on the whole team before dying, effectively killing everyone. That was unforeseen and just so bloody cheap.

IWBTG: "You jumped into a sword. You retard!"
I yelled at the screen then proceeded to keel over, laughing uncontrollably for two minutes.

Mario Kart: Blue shell. How many games punish you for having skill and doing well?

I was trying to get the "Mile High Club" achievement in COD 4. You have less than a minute to save a hostage on the second floor of an airplane while being on Ludicrous difficulty. Half the time my AI squad would just hang back and watch how fast I could die. I swear I heard them laughing at me.
They always hang back, yes, but that's part of the charm :p

Took me a long time to do it, but I was proud when I did :p

NBA Street Vol. 3. I'm leading my NBA team, and we are killing it. Haven't lost once. We go into the playoffs... and it dumps me as team captain. Bam.

WHY?!?

Stalker clear sky, got it the other day when the guide takes you to the second area its right in front of a military base which shoots on sight the machine gun kills you almost instantly as soon as you move and it was night so i could see where i was going but i couldnt seek past either. ragequit
There should be a stump or rock with a tree leaning on it to the left of the spawn. Run like hell to it, then wait for the MG to stop and run some more. That's how I always do it.

Fallout 3's ending. Have you played it? Yes? Then you don't need an explanation of why.
You, good sir, deserve pat on the back. Well said. The entire time I was playing New Vegas, all I could think was, "Please don't have a shitty ending, PLEASE don't have a shitty ending!". And thank god it didn't.

But OT, the last time I can remember a game saying "Fuck you" to me, was when I was playing Prinny 2: Dawn of Operation Panties, Dood.

Fun game, but I hit a roadblock. I was really close to the end of the game, and they decide to hit me with a boss rush. Okay, I can deal with that. But THEN they throw a real dick move at you. RIGHT after the boss rush, you have to fight not one, not two, but ONE HUNDRED copies of yourself. No, seriously, the boss rush ends with a 1 on 100 fight. And they all have the same abilities as you.

Fuck that noise.

Outpost 2: Divided Destiny

This is a game that hates you as a player. The AI is content to sit and wait under the random environmental effects tear through your base...then it surges 20min of arms buildup down your throat

A few moments come to mind

Dead Space 2: Actually a few moments in this otherwise amazing game. The first was that cargo area after your tram-car gets stuck on a giant hive, the one with all the stalkers. No matter how many stalkers I think I've killed, there always appear to be more spawning, and from areas I jut cleared out. The next was fighting in that giant hive itself with the hornets that keep on spawning while you try to carefully aim explosive canisters. The entirety of the last chapter is pretty much a major fuck you. Not only are there a pelethora of enemies in your way, ones that can hit hard and from far, but you also have an invincible necromorph that relentlessly follows you, with no option to actually kill or stop it.

Dead Rising: The game itself seems lke a mjor fuck you in general, but the part that got it for me? I have to carry an injured Isabella back to the safehouse at night. I find a survivor with a shotgun, so I'm fine for the most part. Then I get into that section of the mall right before the warehouse that leads to the safehouse. What happens? The survivor gets stuck in a small fountain/pool, unable to get out while zombies surrond him and prevent him from leaving. I somehow manage to get stuck myslef, unable to leave normally with Isabella on my back and with zombies covering the only possible way out. So I take my shotgun and fire at the zombies. Right when I fire Isabella runs in front of the shotgun, resulting in her death and basically me losing about an hour's worth of gameplay. I traded in the game the next day.

Kingdom Hearts series: All the secret bosses in general. Sephiroth in KH2 is manageable, but still tough. Sephiroth from KH1 on the other hand is nearly impossible, only receiving dmage at the end of combos and immeadiatly attacking after being hit 3 times. The Vanitas Remnant from BBS is so far the biggest fuck you, killing you within 5 seconds ofbattle. I'd hate to think of how hard the Unknown is in that game. TBF you don't have to do these battles to win the game, but really, you're not going to not do them.

Also, as an aside, while Demons Souls is indeed hard, I at least found it fair, so while I died a few times I never thought it was the games fault but rather my own faults at the time (although that Blue Dragon in Boletaria 1-4 was bull shit)

There's a place in fallout 3, where there's just this door sitting around looking like the entrance of a bunker, and when you open that door, it's just a fucking cement wall that has "Fuck you" written on it.

Fallout New Vegas is kind of a d*ck to me. I'd be walking along when an annoying Cazador pops by and poisons me. I hate Cazadors more than anything else in that game, so I beat it to death. Five meters after that, I stumble onto a nest. I died after only killing one.

But that was probably because I was stingy with my 130 Stimpaks.

The Strider/Hunter battle near the end of HL2:E2. Just beat it tonight and boy do I want to punch the people who thought it was a good idea.

OK, you get these balls that destroy the Striders in one hit, but you got to use the gravity gun to stick it to them and then shoot it. But the bombs won't stick unless you kill two Hunters that accompany each Strider, which is no easy task. They also won't stick even if you shoot it at them but it doesn't stick because the bombs just don't feel like it. Oh yeah, and there is no ammo anywhere, so if you run out of shotgun/rocket launcher/pulse rifle/magnum/machine gun ammo fighting the millions of Hunters, you are pretty much screwed. You CAN use shoot the tree trunks using the gravity gun, but that does a total of 0 damage.

I'm exaggerating of course, but really frustrated me to no end.

Guitar Hero 3: Rock battle with slash on expert.

I'm no master of the series, not by any means whatsoever, but when a game tells me to go suck on my thumb, cry in the corner, skip this battle, and then come back when I'm a REAL man, I get kinda pissed.

And when Toughie gets kinda pissed, he puts games down... forever.

That's right, the battle against slash on expert forever killed the entire Guitar Hero line of games for me.

Good job, guys.

Jagged Alliance 2....quite a lot of moments where you just seem to miss and the enemy just shoots you in the head each time or a door opens and you get a shotgun blast from 2 feet away
